A few months ago I began to use calamus root. I read this https://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=8800 and smoked it with cannibis and started to chew it. Although it's effect can be subtle, calamus is a plant teacher IME.

Seemed to me that it would work well as an admixture. And I had also read that in India, it was used to reduce side effects of other entheogenic plants.

So I made a brew with 10 g of ACRB, 6 g of p. harmala and 2 g of calamus.
I brewed the acacia and rue first and after straining, added the calamus and cooking ~20 min before straining again and reducing. I didn't do any egg white cleaning, just drank it as is.

I consumed half, waited until I felt the light kick in, then consumed the other half. The visions were of ancient Indian/ Hindu content, it was very interesting. I feel like many of the subtle teachings I've gotten from calamus over the past few months were cemented, very introspective. While peeking I realized that I should stop trying to label every thing I see in that state. It just is what it is.

Very pleasent experience to say the least.

Interesting. I got noticeable effects today from eating one fresh leaf of Acorus gramineus 'Ogon'. This was after a cup of coffee about 1hr earlier, and yesterday afternoon I had had 14 drops of nutmeg tincture in a mug of coffee.

Effects were the usual phenylpropanoid sensory enhancement and mood elevation which suggests to me a rekindling of nutmeg effects and thence its own thread Very happy - though feelings were a tad more 'psychedelic' than just plain nutmeg.

I just bought an acorus gramineus plant yesterday from the garden store. I've read it's much stronger.

The calimus really seems to synergise well with oral dmt and harmalas, I mean it really intensifies it.

I've seen calamus listed as an MAO inhibitor but have not gone into further detail over this. It seems people assume the asarone is responsible for the effects of calamus but I'm not fully convinced. A study in Germany suggested that oil of calamus alone is not psychoactive. There are certainly many other compounds in the plant which will undoubtedly synergise in some way.

Good luck with your gramineus - they're very easy to propagate from root cuttings. Where are you planning on planting it? They really like nutrient rich water...

I planted them in a large Tupperware container, and drilled holes just below the top of the soil so they can stay waterlogged. Used soil from my yard.

They'll appreciate an occasional dose of urine, IME.

Thanks for the tip. I'll surely give it a try.
