How many of you feel like you don't fit in with the society you're exposed to? People are just so mean, arrogant, ignorant and disrespectful all around me..
I swear it rubs off on me..
Anyone ever say fuck it and move away from it all?

Peoples' attitudes vary from place to place. Perhaps what you consider rude, others in your area may consider normal, casual banter.
Surround yourself with a few close friends and like cyb said, just let the rest of them go.

I feel that way all the time. It becomes more apparent and pronounced the more 'enlightened' you become. It's hard to find a balance of being aware of these negativities and also not letting it affect you or infect you. It's can become the easy road to join in and flip off the next guy that cuts you off while you drive. I often feel like I have to hurry to do everything. Hustle and bustle through life. I feel like most people I encounter on a daily basis are disconnected from other people. Always staring at theirs phones or tablets. Ending marriages and relationships via texting and email. Technology could be blamed but it is the people that use the technology that have become lost. I think about moving somewhere 'enlightened'. Where people treat each other with the dignity and respect we all deserve. Conflict will always happen but all conflict can be resolved by peaceful and respectful means. If anyone knows of such a place, let me know, I may just move there. It takes a village to raise a child. I look at people that way. I try to help them as if I were in a small village at all times. The world gets bigger and bigger. More and more complicated with technology and whatnot. I still try to remember that those people are me and I am them. Connected. It's hard to see something you love go through a difficult time. You want to help the whole word. Maybe the world needs to get to a breaking point. Hit rock bottom so to speak. Maybe that is what it will take for the world to start acting like a small village. To start seeing that we are all one. I forgive my world family for they know not what they do. I often lose my way too. I add to it. I am partly responsible for the way the world is. So I change myself little by little and strive towards enlightenment. "In the universe there is an immeasurable, indescribable force which shamans call intent, and absolutely everything that exists in the entire cosmos is attached to intent by a connecting link." ~Carlos Castaneda

Been thinkin' about that a long time..................................... it would be such a blessing just to be around like minds we can grow from, at least away from those negative minds that try to bring us down to them, but it seems impossible to move. Usually i try to go with cybs suggestion. it would be ideal to stay in place, with social support system of friends, and then we could have the strength to not get down and inspire others. *ALL WAYS WITH LOVE

Don’t look out the window, don’t look This whole world is gone to war Don’t look out the windoW There’s nothing you haven't seen before I don’t know what they’re doing out there. Draw the blinds and come back over here Let your tears fall, I’ll catch them But don’t look.. There’s nothing to see there You haven’t seen before Look at me, tell me that you love me. And I’ll tell you the just the same No, they can't see or hear us And we're safe in each other dreams -wrote that for a lover who had the same thoughts some time ago... Annnnd.. every single one of y'all have insight into this, so yes, skymo, I'd say it's a pretty common feeling for us. And i say 'us' because really, the message of the psychedelic and for god's sake DMT, is pretty anathema to most societies we are going to find ourselves living within, and well we're all pretty intimate with that right? So to paraphrase Heinlein, Strange in a Stranger land and it definitely depends on where you live. Patience I can't just shut the door, every day I am exposed to the worst kinds of people on the planet in my opinion (I currently live in and was raised in south florida, yuck). Kill them with kindness does not work here, you get walked on and disrespected the whole way if you try. I have no friends here, no like minded people to surround myself with.. Look on the bright side, it's almost mushroom season down there! Yeah, south Florida is weird all right. Ever been to Captiva island? Real pretty there. But yeah, strange folks. Florida has to be the flat out strangestis state in the country. Lol, my folks live down there.. .ft Myers, holy cow, you have my sympathy! Are these people really rude, or are they being too honest? Not in the way that they are saying honest things, but are they just being who they are? Are they just being honestly themselves? I have felt vey much lately, very extremely, that I have never been in the right setting. I would say, "My whole life, I have felt friction between myself and my surroundings." But I think I am moving past that. I am exactly who I am supposed to be. I can be no other. Everyone you meet are being exactly how, and who they are, because they can be no different. If you can accept who you are, and even accept that you really should be feeling like you don't fit in, you might find you actually feel better. If you can accept that those people are what they are, you may even find enough humor in it all to laugh a little bit. I think I should qualify my ideas a litte, though. I am not condoning ignorance or rudeness, but people just are who they are. That feeling of not fitting in comes from the disconnect from how you think things should be, and how they really are. Where you find people, you're likely to find rudeness, ignorance, mistrust, destruction, and hatred, but you'll also find love, compassion, laughter, and creativity. The good and bad are equally necessary. Be an adult only when necessary.

@Sky Motion Laughter be one of the greatest medicines! Especially laughing at ourselves. Perhaps the nature of your experience needs adjustment? And to prevent it again, even if it takes one over, and over, to perceive that seeing all is well anyways.. you, yourself are enough for the time being.. but you may have goals or plans? Daily goals for yourself helps being active with just you, and meditation in balance by just being with yourself, so others are easily perceived as unique but just different. One is not a different person because of his external awareness, but from their inner perception and observational processing. It's like on a trip where you perceive each visual contrasting, yet it is not hurting you physically.. its some kind of accepted presence. Psychedelics are great tools for this. Who knows, maybe get into a hobby of some kind and be creative with it. Just you and as you. 'What's going to happen?' 'Something wonderful.'

Yes, I am very vulnerable to the negative aspects that surround me. It is quite odd how I can spend a day meditating in the nearby forest and be an enlightened being, but as soon as I have to confront society in the city again and do work it goes away quickly. The warmth and coming freedom should help alleviate these concerns for me, but it's always just "on to the next worst problem." Do I dream about living away from it all? Of course, but that's all it really is. I like other people and I have hope, but as the posts above have echoed it's not always easy to find the right people with whom to surround yourself. Spending time with the birds and trees really helps take the pressure off however. "Think for yourself and question authority." - Leary
"To step out of ideology - it hurts. It's a painful experience. You must force yourself to do it." - Žižek

Excellent thread, my 2c: Discomfort is first and foremost a signal, giving you important feedback, and suggesting action. Maintaining the 'private' poise in public, that's on a whole new level. Until you get there, you will flicker between states A LOT, leading to irritation and disillusion. It's normal...if you didn't experience it, it would mean you hadn't made any meaningful changes. Your awareness increases for all things, both douchey and divine. Try to smile more, and the empathy should flow naturally... “I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.” ― B.G. Bowers
