Not sure if this is the right place to put this or not, but I had a hypothetical scenario in mind and I was looking not for fact as much as the opinions of others about what a person would do in this situation.

Imagine a person who has bipolar disorder w/ psychotic features. Mood stabilizers help keep the mania under control to where it does not cause problems in this person's life, but it does not help so much with the low end of things. This person has found that psychedelics a few times a year really help put things in perspective as sort of a mental reset and low doses really help with depression in a pinch. They also have a very active professional life and can't be dropping acid and tripping for 12 hours because they simply do not have the time. To this end, they have explored the idea of having a good 40 to 50 years worth of DMT to use as medicine. No sharing, just so this person can have something if they start to feel in a rough spot mentally through the years.

This person knows from reading that DMT freebase is not the most stable form. They know that it would keep for a decent amount of time if kept away from light, oxigen, and moisture, but it would last much longer if the majority was converted to DMT fumarate. They have read about DMT-oxide. They do not feel like it sounds like all that bad of a thing as it has been compared to a "traditional psychedelic." They are also concerned about losing some of their medicine in converting it to fumarate and then back to freebase as needed. Losing medicine isn't good either way you look at it.

If you were this person, what would you do?

Why would you need to keep so much at once?? Shocked

Surely you could just procure / produce more as and when you need it, rather than using stuff that's decades old?

What is the consumption rate?

How do you know you won't slow down / achieve fulfilment / stop partaking at some point?

Planning 50yrs of DMT stock doesn't sound medicinal, it sounds a little obsessive.

It's quite easy at this time to procure the necessary ingredients to make your own as needed. That's what i and most folks here, i assume, do. In the future, when acrb may not be as available, there will surely be workable teks for phalaris and other sources. DMT is everywhere. Don't worry.

It's my understanding that bipolar disorder does by its nature tend to make some people obsessive, but if a years worth of consumption was, say, 90 mg surely it wouldn't be out of the question.

If the DMT freebase is put in glass ampoules and the ampoules are purged from atmospheric oxygen and moisture by filling with nitrogen or argon gas before sealing the ampoules, I believe that they would keep for a lifetime if kept cool and dark.

Enclosing the DMT in paper or a plastic baggie before putting into the ampoule helps to protect it from the fragments of glass that may splinter off when the ampoule is opened.

A little less rigorous, but probably almost as effective would be a very small glass jar or flask that can be sealed reasonably hermetically. Flushing with inert gas would still be recommended. Keep cool and dark, for example in a freezer.

Sounds like something the average person could feasibly do. Perhaps they might wrap in foil and throw in some silica gel packs for good measure.

First thing I would do if I were this person is to help others, including sharing my DMT. The instant we begin to think about others before ourselves is the instant there is no split in thinking. I would do everything I could to look deep into myself and my thoughts. I would not try to control these thoughts but only to begin observing the thoughts. And then make a sound decision once I had determined which thoughts were repetitive monkey brain and which were the thoughts of the higher self. I would meditate daily give the intent to heal myself. Focusing on my thoughts, the mind, and the brain the most. You will find the answers.
