I've noticed the publicity as well. I remember talking on here just a few months ago about how acceptance of cannabis will lead to more curiosity and acceptance of psychedelics, but we were predicting 20-50 year time spans. And now look at these articles!
I've been reading
The New Yorker for years, just waiting for them to write about this kind of thing. I knew they would eventually, as psychedelics are culturally interesting, and I suppose academic research reduces the amount of stigma that was surrounding them.
Just in the past couple days I have been imagining a world where psychedelic use is legal under the supervision of licensed community members for spiritual use and psychiatrists for psychological help. The world would be such a different place... Sometimes I fear that we would lose our "niche spot" as psychedelic users, but then I realize that this is just my ego talking.
We may hold a niche spot now, but as more people find out about the magic, maintaining humility will become important to us. I want to avoid thinking, "Well I did them first so boo on you!"
