I had just brewed some Syrian rue seeds in cold water. I couldn't find anything on it really so I thought I should just post this here. I took about 7 grams of rue seeds and put it in cold water, shook it up a couple times a day. And let it sit for about 3-4 days. I did two pulls. Both times it turned a yellow gray blue color and looked like there was a lot of white crystal mass floating around. When I drank it I did filter the seeds out and it was very effective. Again when I was looking into this I didn't really find anything on doing a cold water wash with rue, so I figured I would just put this here to say it works.

I mixed this with a mimosa cold water wash, and had a good experienceSmile

Interesting.

I bet the Mimosa CWE tasted more horrible than the Rue? More like a dry powder than a liquid, weird.

Maybe if the Rue seeds are crushed first - not to a fine powder, merely open up the husks - hours instead of days of extraction time is enough... but then 7 grams may be far too much.

How about nausea?

Yeah crushed it might work faster, I did two pulls over a week. It seems like it only needed a couple days to have the yellowish tinge and little white crystal floating around.

The rue tea, CWE tasted way worse then the mimosa though in my opinion. The mimosa is powdery and dries up your mouth. But the rue really did taste like straight up donkey asshole piss in my mouth for a while. Nausea though. I got a small amount, enough to make me feel like I didn't want to walk a whole lot. But other then that close to nothing and the rue's anti-depressant effects seemed really prominent to me.

Never boiled/heated my rue, always powder soaking in usually HCL water pH 2, but not to drink that way, to further extract & ending with a fairly consisted 5% yield. Soaking for 2 to 3 days per pull + heavy shaking the rue whenever I pass the jar. This like 3 pulls.

I drank CWE rue before too. Made water + phosphoric acid till pH 3, powdered rue again, just 1 pull, 2 days soak + shaking now and then. Terrible taste indeed, horrible! Very effective though at 3 gr rue (max 4). I bet you had not the best yield with no-powder, but compensated for that with more rue at 7 grams. If you had good yield at 7 gr, oh my.....

One cant traditionally filter the rue powder, it will clog right away, just let settle + decant. Then filter the decantation, needing several coffee filters still. No vacuum filter setup at disposal.
