Even thunder makes a powerful sound, leave a lot of destruction behind and can potentially even kill people, there still is no reason to be afraid of it. And yes, it is totally okay to be afraid of thunder, afraid of dark, afraid of DMT and so on, but it usually only makes things worse. What is there to be gained from fear? I can be totally wrong here and I shouldn't have stated it in a way like it is a truth, as it's only my opinion.

i dont really think that the thunder analogy works, its just a noise, it cant really kill you and is over quickly. I work with a women who is scared of thunder, she hides under her desk when a storm hits but she is fine once it finishes. where as, not wanting to be to dramatic, i had a DMT experience that destroyed me, it completely removed my reality map and that was very, very difficult to deal with for months afterwards. This wasnt a scary experience, ive had plenty of them and i view those scary ones like a horror movie, there freaky but im not afraid of the scary experiences. I am scared of the experiences that go so far beyond fear that it makes fear seem like stroking a kitten.
I think that being dropped into an existential crises is something that is reasonable to be fearful of, and it is this that generates my pre-trip anxiety. I got through it OK, but i know i could have a worse experience in the future as the depths of the experience seem to be limitless.
have you had any horrific journeys? i have no idea of your usage, and im not trying to imply anything, but i have talked to people who have never had a bad DMT experience, they then go on to say that there is nothing to be scared of, well there isnt when its all rotating geometry, pretty colours and love filled entities of light.
i agree that unreasonable fear, like a fear of thunder, is pointless. but i think that being scared of things that can potentially send you a bit squiffy is reasonable.
