The phone used in the study is a Nokia 3110 with a maximum SAR rating of 0.135 W/kg. It is not really a "smart phone" and uses limited bands. For example, North American iPhones hover right around 1 W/kg using GMS (same as the Nokia in the study) as well as UTMS/CDMA. Using WiFi drops the SAR down to about 0.2 W/kg.[1]

My HAM ht pushes 5W while the mobile pushes 50. Granted, it does not transmit nearly as much. My wifi APs are set to a little over 1W and they are always on. I live near a prominent radio peak which is packed with all kinds of RF.

Bottom line: There's no escaping MW radiation these days if you live in a populated area. Or you're geek. Seems pointless to worry about it. I have other more pressing concerns than ambient radiation.

Did you ever get your Faraday Cage installed, Jamie. I know you're anti-radio waves and all.

I wasn't even aware of this aspect of melatonin, but it's not surprising. And regardless of this, it is a fascinating and extremely underrated endogenous substance. The amount of ways it can benefit us is pretty baffling...just spend some time on google scholar, as there is endless studies on it by now.

There also seems to be plenty of reason to suggest that because of artificial lighting and dietary changes, we are all chronically deficient in it.

It's usefulness as a kind of mind lubricant/potentiator for work with other psychedelics is also mostly untapped so far.

That's some goood info right there!! Thanks for the posting. I've always been slightly concerned about radiation, so I take particular plants/herbs that may help reduce that effect on the body. Melatonin, of course, being a good example supplement wise. Or otherwise, from what naturally occurs within the body. Pleased
