hey nobody ain't getting offended , i do get excited no doubt Big grin

and since this info is on the web and potentially accessible to many , its important to share our honest views on the subject , just believing anything is not a good sign , neither is it wise to disbelieve everything unnecessarily

i somehow find to hard to believe , people don't accept anomalies

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savant_syndrome
http://en.wikipedia.org/...tism_spectrum_disorders

there is this guy i can't remember the name of right now , yet he can read all books photographically and knows all the info abut everything on the planet in his mind , even street addresses and maps of the world , his brain just does it on auto (he's an american)

there is another one who can calculate any mathematical problem , remember Pi to thousands of digits , and on one documentry i saw this guy learn icelandic or some other difficult language within a week

i m not saying "Mahraj-ji" was a savant , yet he was different and an anomaly for sure , i am sure he felt the LSD too because he prescribed it to Raghu Marku's father aswell , and also gave instructions to baba Ram Dass to consume it on a cold climate , alone , and with the mind turned towards God

he would'nt prescribe the medicine if the medicine had no effect or give effective instructions on its utilization unnecessaarily, yet the effect he got from LSD is not the same effect we would get , the clarity of the experience would be different for him i guess

i believe extraordinary things are not so out there as already in here and part of us all

and if there are practices out there which enhance the psychedelic experience , there are definetly practices out there to effectively subdue it ,

ever since i suffered from some weak form of psychosis , i started practicing everything i could to block it out totally , when the psychosis healed (not sure about thisLaughing )

i applied the same techniques to the psychedelic experience and found it comfortably easier to handle , some of the anylatical processes could be totally blocked out giving way to much more enjoyable experience

edit: i would like to also add Stanislav Grof and others was treating psychiatric disorders with LSD before it was scheduled, where a lot of improvement was noted in the patients

now if LSD is supposed to make you hallucinate like crazy , how does it really help the crazy become saner (speaking in broad terms ofcourse)

well i am obviously inclined to believe the effects have something to do with our individual brain chemistry/wiring aswell as the substance itself along with our metheodology and individual practices and approach

whereas a normal individual might see things waving , patterns , and pseudo hallucinations

the crazy might just have a different effect with the entheogen, they might come back to sanityCool

has anyone wondered how people with ocd react , or the ones on the autistic spectrum , what about the savant's and geniuses ?

and what about people who have been pushing themselves with meditation/concentration , one pointedness of the mind

its different for everyone , and what we do with it can make it even more different for ourselves

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Grof
http://www.psychedelic-library.org/grofhist.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic_therapy

"the transpersonal is not a fantasy brought on by a feverish mind but rather a reality which is normally not accessible to ordinary consciousness due to defensive mechanisms which can be bypassed in a variety of ways including but not limited to the use of psychedelics. He believes that naturally occurring forms of transpersonal experience, including some aspects of psychosis, are not pathological but rather represent the emergence of the transpersonal into the realm of the ordinary"

http://www.mentalhelp.ne...p?type=doc&id=41802

thus its very easy to access the transpersonal even without psychedelics , lucid dreaming and astral projection are two such novel ways

also its very easy to access the ordinary even if you're on a psychedelic , certain meditative/concentrative practices do just that - make you a little sober even if you're hallucinating

in psychedelic therapy treating people with hallucinogens might sound outlandish idea to help them out yet if one can know the distinction between the body , mind and soul and one comes to learn the difference between 3d reality , astral worlds , imagination and other states of transpersonal existence ........the insane might never get lost again

according to this philosophy the aliens and dimensions we see very real and always all around us , our filters only prevent us from seeing this all the time , i have already pointed out this place is multidimensional

if we can control our mind we may open the filter so wide that the whole multiverse shows up , or we might narrow it so much that only 3d reality is percieved ..... psychdelics can assist us to do this or we can even do it on our own

we may choose what we like for hyperspace is already here .........its all around us ....we are not seeing correctly

edit again : i just remember something that feels really exciting , this is about the multidimensionality of his place ...........

when light falls on 3d object it creates another being a 2 dimensional creature called the shadow , similarly the shadow has a 1 dimensional being to look down to from his/her world which is also right here all the time whether we percieve it due to our filters or not

and we our 3d self is a shadow of a 4th dimensional being and so on till infinity as each being is created from the light of the source

those who truly open up to the great mystery can experience the infinite multidimensionality of their being all the time , they can on command and even restrict themselves to 3d if they want when communicating with other 3d beings or doing ordinary things
illusions !, there are no illusions
there is only that which is the truth

Actually, I am diagnosed with ADD Type three which is very different from other forms of ADD. It's called "overfocused" and the symptoms that have been manifest my whole life are inability to shift attention, lack of motivation (so bad sometimes its hard to even get out of bed some days) obsessing over a single thought and not being able to shift the focus, which results in getting sucked into negative thought and behavior patterns such as substance abuse (I was addicted to heroin last year)...... It's been said that this form is actually a cross between ADD and OCD, which makes total sense if you think about it.... It's also different from the others because it is a result of both low dopamine levels (classic ADD) AND low serotonin levels. It makes it hard to treat with one medication because on JUST a stimulant, the overfocused person might focus even harder on these negative loops and patterns. On just an anti-depressant, the lack of focus and motivation is still very prominent. My diagnosis was not a guess, it was the result of a brain scan I had to determine why it was so incredibly difficult for me my entire life to get myself to do ANYTHING.

Now, you asked how do people with OCD react to psychedelics...... For the most part, my experiences aren't COMPLETELY different than other people who use psychedelics. The only thing that I've noticed is that sometimes on long duration psychs like LSD I am more susceptible to falling into thought loops, but my meditation practice has helped this very much. I know my case isn't just OCD, but before I was put on medications to treat these imbalances, it was really impossible for me to get out of thought loops even while sober. I was so trapped all the time and couldn't even do anything about it, which made being aware of the problem anxiety-provoking, leading to more negative thought patterns... Great cycle eh?

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my condition, but I have developed a mild case of HPPD..... For about two to three months now I have constant LSD-like visual activity. Now It's not really anything distracting or anything, but text on LCD screens does that dance and turns rainbow, and especially when Im stoned.... Also I see mild tracers pretty much all the time and get pretty vivid CEVs when I shut out my lights. I would just attribute this to the fact that I did LSD every week for a few months, but I know people who have used it even more than me and have not had this happen, so maybe it has something to do with my chemical imbalances? Who knows... But it's by no means bothersome.

You're going to need to provide some citations there. While SSRIs and drugs that dump dopamine may alleviate the symptoms of OCD and AD(H)D respectively, we still don't know what causes the disorders themselves. The monoamine theory is just one of many theories floating around (and if you want my two cents, I think it gets the most press because it's the one that sells the most drugs). To say "this thing is caused by *insert neurotransmitter abnormality here*" ignores the incredible complexity of the brain and contributes to a simplistic understanding of consciousness.

Now, if you want to talk about the etiology of OCD, I would love to, since it's a big part of my studies, but even preliminary research shows that there's a lot more too it than just too much or too little 5-HT. (My hunch is that it's probably got a lot to do with the error detection circuits in the cingulate cortex, but that's just a hunch).

Now, I'm not on the autism spectrum, but I do have really bad OCD, and I've found that serotonergic psychedelics are incredibly useful for the disorder -- both during the trip and in the weeks after I obsess a lot less, and many of the compulsions (including some muscular ticks) are decidedly less prevalent.

Quote:
Today, the fifth edition of the DSM only requires one to exhibit five of 18 possible symptoms to qualify for an ADHD diagnosis. If you haven’t seen the list, look it up. It will probably bother you. How many of us can claim that we have difficulty with organization or a tendency to lose things; that we are frequently forgetful or distracted or fail to pay close attention to details? Under these subjective criteria, the entire U.S. population could potentially qualify.

And if the entire US population can qualify, then the entire US population can buy drugs at a premium and line the pockets of the men and women who run Big Pharma. Not to be bitter or anything, but the entire institution of industrial psychopharmacology, and psychiatry in general, has reached an almost terminal toxicity. Classifying people based on 'disorders' is, IMO, largely useless. Much more useful would be tackling the underlying neural architecture, but that's expensive and probably not a good financial investment, in the long run.

I got this information from a book by ADD specialist Dr. Amen called healing ADD. It distinguishes seven different types and discusses which areas of the brain are said to be effected by each one based on studies with all his patients. With type 3, it's been found that drugs like effexor (an snri) have been most helpful. The book is extremely informative and is probably the best literature available on the subject.

i would like to add we can tailor-make our meditative practices to our individual needs , try many types of excercises and observe the excercises which block out ADHD for you and continue to practice and develop from there on

its been said - consciousness is fluid like water and can fit any shape or any container , we can use this fluidness to our advantage and may be able to shape our consciousness to achieve our individual needs

a butterfly needs to only fly , it need not think , so it uses it consciousness only to excel at flying , similarly every creature shapes its consciousness to its individual needs

i don't have hppd , i had hppd 10 years back , now i get full on photographic hallucinations/visions where hppd is just a minor part of the issue

yet i can block it on command when i am working and whatnot

please note i don't always block these visions , most of the time when i am free to relax i actually indulge in these visions , these are truly awesome and amplify my dreamscape

i can also remember dreams visually , even in my waking life and can see them with my open eyes Shocked

thank you DMT Twisted Evil Cool
