October heralds blooming season for those rugged members of the genus Ariocarpus.

A. bravoanus has kicked it off for me in 2014, with my two specimens blooming simultaneously (unusually, one of mine has become a double header, as the pic shows) - so I have been making like a bee with a little sable artist´s brush.
This is the most recently discovered species, only coming to light in the early 90s - but seeds fairly quickly made their escape from the state of San Luis Potosi.

Very nice. Do you mean this is the most recently discovered species for yourself?

Most recently discovered species of the genus.

No, hostilis, I bought these as young plants - I do have one of their offspring that I grew from their seed, but that has yet to flower.

Next time I am up on the roof I will have a count - but the total number keeps changing as they keep setting seed on their own !!

I just had a count of all plants - mostly cacti but a few Euphorbia. I made it 220 - but that included 40 Lophophora williamsii and 70 (!!) Encephalocarpus strobiliformis of various sizes. They are supposed to be difficult to propagate by seed, but they just do it on their own here.

Belay my last !!!!

My Turbinicarpus alonsoi were looking a bit crowded today in the pot they shared,

so I unpotted and separated them, repotting them individually.

There were also 11 sprouts of various sizes - I told you the number kept increasing on its own.
