Hi, just recently I realized something.
3 years ago, after my first 6-7 ayahuasca journeys and some vape DMT I developed digestive Candida, which last till present.
Let me tell you how I got to this conclusion:
My first ayahuasca was in January 2011, and I did it one every week or 10 days till April. From that moment I switched to vaped DMT, never did aya again since then ( because of the taste). In July same year I discovered one morning that my tongue developed a white coating all over it, especially at the base, none towards the tip. That was strange as I never had something similar in 40 years of my life. In the same period started some digestive problems, stomach pains after some meals. Never had stomach issues in my life, I could digest anything I ate without any problems. These stomach issue comes and go randomly till September till I decided to remove some things from my diet. I also went and consulted a gastroenterolog about this strange issues. I told her explicitly: - nothing changed in my diet for the last 4-5 year (20 years lacto-vegetarian) - the only visible change was this recently white coating of my tongue this idiot doctor didn't told me at hat time: go to a laboratory and do a culture on the white thing from your tongue. She gave my some medicine which I took only half of it, become things started to be already a little better due to removing some things from my diet. In time due to my changes in died the stomach issues went away, bu the white coating on my tongue it's still here 3 years later. I forgot about it, other then the unpleasant aspect of my tongue I didn't saw other symptoms
In this period, at least 1 year before starting aya and some year after this doctor visit I didn't took any antibiotics.
Just recently, through some interesting associations, I found out about this possibility and went to a laboratory for a 'scraped lingual culture' which showed Candida Albicans. If it's on my tongue then it's on all my GI tract, possible in blood (systemic Candidiasis) after all these years.
Now I'm thinking that this digestive Candida could have been cause by that nasty aya tee (full of tannins) that disrupted my intestinal flora. Could this be possible? Anyone experienced or read about something similar?
Thanks

..the candida would presumably be related to specific dietary intake, particularly afterwards..

as someone who has suffered with systemic candidiasis and spent a lot of time reading about it and talked to some doctors, I would suggest that it is lifestyle factors that need adjusting. That includes things like diet, but also stress levels etc.. Long live the unwoke.

That is far from bein simple, and far from being a "solution". Unfortunatly, it isn't that easy to get rid of candida and other disbiotic states in general. But not feading the candida makes at least sense in theory. @Topic If anything, ayahuasca helps fight candida. http://www.academicjourn...41030_Diba%20et%20al.pdf shows sme activity against candida http://omicsonline.org/s...rts/2167-0412-SR-736.pdf looks at the possible synergistic effects of rue and honey in fighting candida.

yes, it's possible ayahuasca contributed somehow to an already existing condition, and so candida revealed itself.

jamie wrote:^how so? Ayahuasca is an anti fungal herb. It does not promote candidiasis. But how about stress?? what if a few a bit stressful trips and/or the OP not taking good care of himself (remember it was winter in Europe when the OP has those aya sessions). What I am saying is also akin to e.g. getting a cold because when in awe under the effects of a substance you sat soaking in the rain for 5 hours without realising. Even though aya won't promote candidiasis per se, it is hard to assert with great certainty anything against or in favor of whether it contributed to a pre-existing conditions. The whole issue is just too confounding to just be seen in terms of aya and what it may do to candida. jamie wrote:as someone who has suffered with systemic candidiasis and spent a lot of time reading about it and talked to some doctors, I would suggest that it is lifestyle factors that need adjusting. That includes things like diet, but also stress levels etc.. I also agree to that. But Para, please follow any antimicrobial therapy that the doctors recommend (I presume antifungals instead of antibiotics as you wrote in your OP). Kambogahuascanga wrote:You obviously already had Candida but Ayahuasca being the ultimate diagnostic tool made you aware of it. Simple solution, stop eating carbs and sugars including fruit. But these are in vitro observations; what may happen to the level of the organism can be extremely different. You only predict that far from in vitro studies. as i recall candida is a natural part of human digestive flora/fauna, kinda like all invasive plants are native somewheres, its when the natural checks and balances get disrupted that ecological niches open up and opportunistic species jump on it, furthermore in context of aya its interesting because sometimes it seems to bring up problems that were previously dormant in order to bring them to light and sequentially to be addressed, because if you were exposing yourself to that much aya you were essentially saying to the universe im opening myself up to whatever i need for personal transformation and growth, in conclusion my assessment would state that you already had digestive imbalance that the symptoms of were being repressed, or was just not quite imbalanced enough to show symptoms, something you were doing at that time (possibly the aya or maybe something else or combined factors) caused your body to cross the threshold, to cure candida overgrowth is generally considered a notably uncomfortable experience, you will need to starve the yeast of food, which means a very strict sugar fasst(in the broad sense, no carbs etc) for extended period, while feeding other friendly flora/fauna as much as possible this generally means upping the intake of cultured foods/probiotics like sourkraut and kefir etc, good luck ive received the trans dermal download in the apousal lounge
no disease could possibly survive in such a wiggly environment!
