Due to a recent screwup, i have exposed patches of red bloody flesh on both my achilles tendons. Whenever i walk and wear footware the affected areas are irritated and i feel an immense pain. At first, i could manage the pain with NSAIDs and continued to work (i work on a boat and have to swim in the ocean). After a day of work the exposed flesh got bloodier, infected (this is being treated with antibiotic ointment), and far more painful. Cannabis has been found effective, but the effects only last a couple hours, make me hazy/dysfunctional, and i don't have the resources to dose cannabis on such a regular basis. I have, however, managed to obtain a few grams of kratom to help.

I have been using this kratom at increasingly lower doses so as to find out the lowest dose at which analgesic effects are present. The lowest effective dose i have attempted as of yet is 150mg of plain leaf (bright eyes blend). I combined the 150mg with 500mg of acetaminophen and 200mg of ibuprofin, which may explain the potentiation of the analgesic effect. The small amount of kratom with the nsaids completely obliterated the pain yet barely showed any psychoactivity.

I plan to attempt increasingly lower doses of kratom both with and without cannabis and NSAIDs in order to determine my personal threshold dose for analgesic effects.

If anyone else has used kratom to help treat pain i would like to know the lowest effective dose taken and what it was taken with. Thank you for your time and correspondence.

i use kratom daily for back pain, and used it while withdrawing from an intranasal heroin habit, more specifically the overall pain/discomfort that accompanies such a undertaking.

When i'm running low on my kratom, and i need to space out my remaining # of 00 caps to last me until i buy more, its not uncommon to go from 3 700mg caps every 4 hours to two or even one and still get significant pain relief.

So for someone that normally takes 2.1g doses every four hours, as little as 700mg can provide noticeable pain relief, though not to the degree my normal dose does.

Personally, if i was in your situation i would stop taking nsaids, and just stick to cannabis and kratom. Much better for your body not to take aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen, or the like for pain relief. They are really not good for your digestive system, kidneys, liver, etc. Thats why they reccomend only using them for a short amount of time, but i think its safer to just avoid them completely.

I use maeng da whole leaf bought in bulk and ground at home, if you look around you can get some really good deals from certain online suppliers that have a good customer base to judge the quality of their service and products.

Perhaps consider cutting out the nsaids, and get a good amount of kratom to use now and in the future for minor/moderate temporary pain relief as necessary. Then bump up your kratom dose a bit 700mg-1.25g and see how that works.

Cannabis is a good tool for my pain issues, but its not something i find i am very functional under while at work. I usually vaporize in the evening to help get to sleep, and cut my kratom doses down as well when i have cannabinoids in my system, due to their synergism.

Kratom on the other hand, works absolutely better than anything else (save for morphinan opiates, which i refuse to take for obvious reasons) for functional pain relief, and the mild caffeine-esque stimulation of kratom is an additional perk imho.

Hope something in that reply is of use, or helps you decide how to dose kratom with or without other pain relieving drugs to deal with your injury.

Good luck-

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry

I've had excellent pain relieving results by combining kratom with turmeric and a little black pepper (as a source of piperine to enhance curcumin bioavailability) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9619120

Not only does turmeric have analgesic and anti-inflamatory properties on it's own, it seems to slightly potentiate mu agonists, (according to anecdotal reports and personal experience).Thumbs up

If you really want some potentiation, add a teaspoon or two of black seed oil (nigella sativa).Love

You're probably right. IME, kratom's analgesic effects don't show up until the dosage is high enough to start giving me an opiate-like buzz. With potentiators you should be able to lower the effective dose a bit.

I'm curious as to why you have not bandaged the wound? Even if you have to apply antibiotic ointment, bandages can be changed. You're opening yourself up to infection there.
