[It is my understanding that new members aren't supposed to talk about research chemicals. This post is about DPT. I figured that while it is perhaps rarer and a newer synthetic tryptamine, it has also been around since the early 60s and has been well-studied in a clinical setting, so I personally wouldn't consider it a RC. If this post is inappropriate, I apologize]

Last night I had a rather difficult experience with DPT. I ingested ~340 mg orally, and then waited about an hour and a half, at which point I wasn't really feeling it, so I insufflated another ~160 mg. Within five minutes I was feeling it very strongly. The trip was incredibly difficult. For the first 30 minutes or so, I was consumed by a racing heart, sweatiness, extreme anxiety, shakiness, and fear. There were few if any visuals, and I gained no profound insight. After this initial period, I started to come down from the physically uncomfortable part of it, and felt a little bit safer in the space, and had some mild COVs, but nothing to write home about really, and still no particularly insightful thoughts, encounters with beings, or anything really to carry back with me into normal reality.

What does one do in the wake of such an event? How do you justify it in your own mind? What do you chalk it up to? How do you prevent it from happening again?

yes, I can relate. I feel as though I'm a character in a ghost movie. This tryptamine requires more preparation, I believe. Set and setting Thumbs up

I don't really know my DPT dosages, but it sounds like you probably overdid it. I'd wager the insufflated DPT hit you instantly (within the five minutes) and then the DPT you consumed orally probably drew out your hellish experience somewhat. Maybe next time I would try smoking it. That route will probably have the shortest duration (which can still be plenty long) and you'll probably experience its effects more "concisely". I experienced a bit of what you experienced when I tried DiPT, but more mildly than what you described + severe audio distortion. Be careful with these things. They make you appreciate just how safe and natural feeling DMT is by comparison. DMT really does belong at the top of the "tryptamine tree".

Thanks for the insight. I probably did overdo the dosage, although my one experience before this with DPT was with 250 mg orally and only gave me a very mild, +1 experience, a vague trancelike state, which is probably what led to my decision to go much higher this time.

True, I've never experienced anything this sinister feeling with either smoked DMT or ayahuasca.

I too expected a DMT-like experience from Dpt.

(Snorted DPT) feels like that 'UH-OH" feeling one may have on other previous psychedelics...but it doesn't know how to stop or control itself. In some ways I believe it may have some value, in that it sort of put me into FULL BLOWN SURVIVAL MODE. It was like, "SCREW THIS! I thought I knew what 'the fight or flight' trip felt like. Now maybe I have a clearer understanding."

Because I've read smoking it can be more 'DMT like' it seems MAYBE promising.

I've read about how some consider it DMT's evil cousin, and I've also heard that it has terrifying effects.

I think it does because, Dpt has a mind of its own. When you're on it, it feels so ...'against your free will'.....

It may serve a purpose, such as learning to meditate oneself, and to prepare oneself for any other future journey.

DPT. Swim can't live with it, but Swim can't live without it. In smaller doses it can brighten your mood, enhance colors and put you in 'the zone'. But the more you take, that quiet part then swoops in on you...and it does not stop.

I have had similar experiences, what you do is learn from it. Start small and be patient when dosing. DPT has only ever been disappointing to me, and I don't plan on experimenting with it any further.
