I first read about the life of Pablo Amaringo in Strassman's recent book, Inner Paths to Outer Space. I was curious if others have read through his book (.pdf available here on the nexus, link below). He is a powerful voice in this world and his advice is highly regarded by the research community.

I was reading through the erowid review of it today as I was going over the book again was again mystified by the motifs that appear in it and the erowid interpretations of it.

Anecdotally, I have had similar experiences while under the influence of psilocybin. Namely the realization that there are spirits in stone and other minerals - or depending on which side of the fence you are on, "real" or "imagined" - the notion that there is great significance attributed to minerals. Perhaps because we, like plants, depend on the minerals found in soil and stone.

I was also really interested in his belief that the ancient Aztecs, Mayans, and I think Incas and Egyptians were in contact with extraterrestrial or extradimensional forms of intelligent life. Especially the idea that some chosen people of those cultures now reside with the other lifeforms. I was also reminded of a mushroom trip when he explained in the Visions book that some of these forms of life are higher beings that live in perfect harmony and some are here to help us, some to harm us.

I've been reading about string theory for a few years (highly recommend anything by Brian Cox, and Brian Greene's book, The Elegant Universe), I personally believe that based on out relative ignorance of how the physics of the universe work, that it is not that far-fetched to imagine beings composed of patterns of energy that we cannot perceive. Like Richard Dawkins' explanation of how we have evolved to become "middle earth" beings that exist on the perceptual plane of earthly compositions of matter.

I was lucky enough to get hold of Pablo Amaringo's (and Eduardo Luna's) masterpiece Ayahuasca Visions: The Religious iconography of a Peruvian Shaman. Very interesting as well the number of times DNA helix type structure and cell organelles/interiors crop up in his visions...along with UFO's/extraterrestrials...

Good point. There's a section in Inner Paths to Outer Space where one of the theological or anthropological authors writes about Native American cave paintings that resemble the double helix of D.N.A. There's also copies of cave wall carvings that resemble certain similar archetypes of aliens, like their protruding antennae.
