I'm not getting how caapi is dosed for the following reason. If a typical aya brew is say 100grams boiled then reduced. Then wouldn't that mean I dose of that size is over a gram of alkaloids? If I can perform a extraction on the vine and pull a couple grams out of 100g of vine then wouldn't the same amount be consumed by just making the tea?

After all the only difference is the addition of lye in order to crash out the alks in order to separate them?

However it is stated you only need 200mg of these alks. If the all's are in the tea and the lye just crashes them amount the only thing I can think is that when drinking the tea your body can't absorb them all making it necessary for such a large amount.

Can anyone clarify this for me.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I have recently been studying caapi/harmalas myself. In the easy caapi extraction thread it talks a little about it and the differnce in the amounts between brews and pure alks. It was said that we dont really know why one takes x amount and is different than the other but a suggestion was maybe it was protected by plant fats or something in a brew versus extraction.

Yea it confuses me. I've been wanting to try harmalas and at first considered drinking a caapi tea but figurer I may as well extract the alkaloids in order to save money and be able to dose more then one time off a 100grams of vine. Plus this way I can make some changa as well as try them sublingual as well as some pharmahuasca.

I think it makes no sense working with caapi for extraction, since the price is high.

There are some things to have in mind when extracting from caapi, if you are going to do it I can share my experience with it, let me know.

As far the numbers go, the treshhold is 50g of caapi not 100g.

I see wakeup you have hard time deciding what to do, what is the real doubt you have?

Just in short, I would just get rue and mimosa or acacia, find extraction that suits you best and just do it...

Something to keep in mind as well - It only takes 200mg of caapi alks to activate dmt. When you're consuming higher doses of harmalas, they become psychedelic on their own, which only adds to the dmt experience.

As far as I know this is just a rumor. I think it partially revolves around that fact that rue is way more potent and therefore easier to overdo than caapi, and partially because originally people viewed its visicinone and visicine alkaloids as "unwanted" and toxic, when it seems that they are only unwanted if you are pregnant, and they actually have other positive effects apart from that...You can read about that here.

Syrian rue also often has much higher harmaline content than caapi, which might not be quite as smooth feeling as harmine. It's stil not toxic in the amounts people take though.

Sometimes people attribute nausea/purging to "toxicity" (not saying you are), but that's just an aspect of the harmala/caapi/rue experience. A lot of psychedelics get very uncomfortable at doses that are still far below toxic levels.

As for caapi dosages...There are countless threads on caapi/caapi dosing that could advise you on which amounts to start with as a low dose. I'd say around 50g for average potency vine is usually a lower end dose.

Does this mean 200mgs of powdered caapi vine?..
Or 200mgs of extracted caapi alcaloids?
I have caapi and it sounds more apealing to me than rue..

Alkaloids, not powdered vine
Powered/shredded vine is more like ~50g

Dragging plant sustainability in the equation (if that matters to you), the rue seeds are more efficient than cutting non cultivated vine-wood out of the jungle and fly them over the globe. Some people call alarm.
