I don't know how many Nexians are regular Cracked.com readers, but if you are, you probably are aware of their recent series of articles that are based on interviews with 'interesting people.' For those of you who are not regular readers, Cracked is a very popular humor site, it's articles fairly regularly get hundreds of thousands of views and over the past few years it's shown itself to be pretty open-minded and progressive. Like I just mentioned, a recent feature has been article based on interviews with people who have stories the editors think the public would be interested in reading.

Past stories have included:

What's it's like to be transgender in the United States
http://www.cracked.com/a...ender-media-ignores.html

An interview with a celebrity astronaut
http://www.cracked.com/a...naut-chris-hadfield.html

The realities of drug addiction among nurses and doctors
http://www.cracked.com/a...drug-addicted-nurse.html

I think that it would be great if some eloquent, well-spoken psychonaut (which The Nexus has a plethora of) where to reach out to them with an article about the healing effects of psychedelics. I'm sure there are plenty of us here who have stories of the tremendous healing power things like Ayahuasca and psilocybin and maybe enough other interesting anecdotes to make an article the editors would approve of.

Maybe we could try and put it together collaboratively, using multiple stories?

I think that this could be a great way to get a positive word out about psychedelics to a huge number of people, while at the same time making sure that the information that presented is accurate, scientifically verified and that harm reduction and education are made central themes. None of the 'DMT is released by the pineal gland when you sleep to make you have an NDE,' nonsense.

They generally ask writers to cite sources, and so we could go through and find independent studies that verify the safety and efficacy of psychedelic drugs (think of the studies at Johns-Hopkins, or the study by Krebs & Johansan about lifetime psychedelic use and mental health).

What do you guys say?

Thoughts?

Anyone have a life story they think could make for a good article?

Blessings

We definitely have many eloquent and well educated psychonauts here, undoubtedly. However, I'm not sure that I would ever refer someone to cracked.com for education on psychedelics. We already have an Entheogenic University here...

I'm not suggesting we make Cracked.com into an educational website devoted to psychedelics, I'm suggesting we use it as a platform to tell people our stories and try to show the world that psychedelics aren't crazy drugs that insane stoner hippies take, but that they are a powerful medicine and potential force for good in the world.

Eg: If it were me, I might talk about how psilocybin mushroom helped me find relief from my anxiety disorders.

I used to know a certain writer for cracked quite well, and they are definitely familiar with psychedelics. I don't think this would work as an article for them though. All it would be is hey people who use drugs are normal! If you want, you can always pitch the idea on their site though.
