Hello Nexians! First post and I just want to say how helpful you all have been to me already, this forum is a shining example of an online community and I am proud to now be part of it.
I know this smoking technique topic has been discussed and discussed... but this is the question I have at the moment and I'd like a little personalized advice before I continue on.
I recently purchased a GVG and am having a little trouble getting a good dose with it. I have already read many threads on proper technique and experimented quite a bit, but my results with it are still quite poor. Let me explain:
First of all, I am working with changa here. I have two different types, both of which I have tried about 3 times each, maybe more. One is in powder form, and the other is in clumpy leaves coated with dmt. I am able to use the leafy changa in a small bubbler with a bic lighter and get far better results than I have been able to get so far with the GVG.
I have heard it said that changa can be a little tricky in the GVG. How so? It seems to me that I am vaporizing the other herbs, and feeling a sight "drunk" or sedated feel from them, and just getting mild pattern visuals from the dmt itself. I have tried hitting it sloooow, tried it faster, always hold in for around 12 seconds (more if I know my lungs are still absorbing it) tried with low flame, high flame, etc.
I am loading between 40-80mg of changa each time, the changa is around 50% dmt.
I have had the dmt melt and drip through, so I experimented with 8 stacked screens, a choreboy, and even the Volcano liquid pad. I have determined that just a thin layer of the choreboy and a screen works well enough, as long as I inhale slowly. If I get too fast I start pulling the melted dmt through.
I am using a good torch lighter, and it is a bit of a balancing act between vaporizing too slowly to build up dense vapor and igniting the changa. Usually I am able to get 2 decent (not huge) hits from 50mg of product, but the resulting effect is very weak.
If I hold my breath for a long time on the first hit, it is very difficult to take another long, controlled, slow breath to get the changa going again. I usually end up with a bit of a sorry second hit. I would like to be able to clear 50mg in one hit, and I have decent lungs being a weed smoker, but it seems like it's hard to get the vapor started, and then thick enough, and then clear it all in one breath and without igniting the product.
My main gripe is that I am not really even getting a mild DMT trip from 50mg of changa that I know is good. Where is the DMT going? there is always some that condenses on the pipe, but I don't know how much is normal. I don't want to lose too much more product during experimentation, does anyone have a tip that really helped them? Is it all about a slow breath? Best to speed up as I go? Maybe try using a bic? I am more comfortable with a bic but I know the vaporization time will go up.
The best result I have had with it so far was when the changa ignited and I just let it burn and kept inhaling. So it seems like higher temps would be beneficial, but it is a balancing act for sure. I definitely expected this to be more of a breakthrough machine, but I am nowhere near there yet!
So... any advice is helpful. Maybe the GVG is best with just freebase DMT? Should I just keep experimenting? I don't want to use up too much more product!
Alright thanks guys
change, return, success!
