Yeah, I was liking this new pope, though I'm not religious at all, but after this, he's lost all credibility.

If you think about it, it's clear why he can't do otherwise. Legalizing pot cuts out the middleman (him) between you and jah.

The PR campaign was good tho. Made me scratch my head, too.

You can still join the Church of the SubGenius or the Church of Satan. Might suit you better. Or join my favorite one - the Church of Burning Popsicle Sticks:

Heh. I actually joined the Church of Satan when I was 18. Stopped being a Satanist two years later but I'm pretty sure I'm still officially a member as it was a lifetime membership. Good times.

I saw a larger view of the world. Listening to Coast to Coast AM all night while I drew comic books helped. Then I started buying the books of some of Coast's guests and I knew I'd found my path. I think my true interest in Satanism wasn't the self-worship that LaVeyan Satanism is, but the occult in general. And I'm sure Satanism appealed to my post-adolescent self. I'll always have my Satanic tattoos as a reminder (inverted cross on each wrist, a Baphomet, two portraits of Satan).

Technically speaking, I'm still a catholic. I apparently need to write a formal letter to the bishop or something saying I've renounced my faith. Unfortunately, my give-a-****-o-meter is far too low on the matter to register interest in picking up a pen. If I'm anything these days, it's pantheist. I did the atheist stuff for a bit, but it was too much like hard work Thumbs up

As for the Pope, he's done a lot to improve the image of the church, but we can't expect him to turn the ultra-conservative attitudes into a hippy-loving organisation overnight.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

I don’t know, as far as leaders in his organisation go he has been doing better than many. He is just upholding the status quo, just as many others do. Aside of his comments on this subject, he has been making some reasonable steps forwards which I think is to be commended.

My main point of confusion is that on the one hand he says drugs are a scourge, yet he mentions nothing about setting a good example by disallowing alcohol in the church. Pour the communion wine down the sink and swap it out with blackcurrant juice, I’m sure it will go great with the wafers.

I was already wondering when this Pope was going to show his true colors.
With his pleas for continuing & tightening the witchhunt for Cannabis users, he just did.

Peculiar how he slanders the legalisation of Softdrugs(Uruguay, Colorado, Washington), yet
he sais not a word about the commonly accepted, highly toxic and highly addictive harddrug
that has been destroying families & breaking down civilisation for aeons: Alcohol.

I was already sceptical of pope Francis when he continuously spoke of how the poor should be
spared and helped....from his golden Vatican throne. Words words words. Or as they would say in
the Vatican: Parole, Parole, Parole.

He should also know that, not only is Cannabis a fine medicine, growing Cannabis legally & commercially
helps/could help millions of otherwise deeply impoverished people earn a living. Many Uruguayans can attest to that.

Where is his formerly expressed sympathy & empathy for the poor now?

reminds me of this from Reginald D Hunter live show.

"What I wanted to say was that the Catholic Church is a political organization posing as a religious one - what I actually said was f**k the pope."

He has.
Pope to young people - avoid drug and alcohol culture.

Quote:
Be courageous, he said, and when people say “‘have a little alcohol, take a bit of drugs’. No. Go against this civilisation that is causing us so much harm.”

I think there is a possibility that the Pope is tied to the cartel. (I actually do not think this, some times it's just fun to mention things that are fictional blasts of imagination)

By keeping drugs illegal, you are supporting the illegal businesses that currently promote them. If you legalize and regulate - you destroy the evil organizations currently running the drug game. So. .... Why would you want to contribute to the cartel? Maybe something to gain? Maybe ignorance. O well. I'm glad I was never baptized or forced(or chose) to sign up for any religion. God is laughing at us. "Silly bastards... Why do you think I keep you in the material world?"

Thought I'd add.

Not to defend the obscene wealth of the Vatican, but I have yet to see a picture of this pope on that golden throne, I see pictures of him in an unadorned white chair, free of gold or jewels, I may be wrong, of course, but I haven't seen him sitting on the golden throne.
