Namaste friends!
I assume others have also experienced what I and my wife have: harmalas often have no effect at all, even with a high dose, like 500mg harmine/harmaline hcl. Sometimes that dose will be overpowering and sometimes no effect.
Can't seem to find any particular reason. Obvious consideration is diet but can't find a pattern there.
Could it be more of a mindset thing?

I've never encountered this in the slightest. I tend to dose freebase harmalas. You mention you dose hcl. Any chance of salt contamination? That wouldn't make sense since all our doses come from the same pile usually. That is, usually we dose 10x rue extract from a big bag produced professionally so it is homogenous... Sometimes a dose is as expected way harmala drunk, other times no effect.

From a big bag produced professionally. I would say that's your issue right there. Extract your own so you know what your actually getting. Also, is it 10x or hcl? Maybe I'm ignorant but they can't be the same thing. I have also extracted my own big bag and there is not much difference.
The hcl was a pure harmala extract that was about twice the potency of the 10x rue, but it still only works sometimes. Also freebase is the same.
I will post over at ayahuasca.com and see if anyone knows why I'm yakking about.
