The color scheme for the nexus is pleasant to look at, but only for a very short amount of time, maybe a few seconds. If I started reading a post, after about 30 seconds the image is imprinted on my vision and becomes very difficult to focus. It's the dark background with white text that does it to me. It becomes quite uncomfortable, and very distracting. Does happen to anyone else? Sometimes it occurs quicker than others.

I know there is a technical term for this, and there are some intended uses for this phenomenon, but frankly it's keeping me from reading/writing on here more. Strangely, I never remember it happening to me before last year(on the nexus), and i've been reading on the nexus for well over 5 years. Although i was extremely stoned for 3 out of the 5Pleased

You can change the theme in Edit Profile. I use the one that is lighter and imo easier on the eyes

Wow, the white background is so much more pleasing to the senses...It should be the default. That black just does not work well in my opinion.

Try different settings on your monitor (brightness, contrast, colour matching etc) The colour is actually a blend of 4 different shades of Brown/Grey Thumbs up

I had the same problem Synkromystic so i used the clear background for a while but it was tiring for my eyes. So, i'm back to the dark one and i did set up my monitor (as cyb mentioned it) and, at least for now, i stick to this.
My set up : more brightness like this the dark background is not so dark. And i keep some light on in the room.

I'm gonna give the white one a try for a while, but thanks for the input. I really like the white. I had always thought the nexus had a not so nice dark feel to it with that blackish background.
