Hi there good citizens, I may have run into a whole bunch of acacia confusas. Can anybody id them from the photos included ? I will be taking the bark home to see if i can extract crystals. From what i can telk they look precisely like the photos of Acacia Confusa that i've found on the internet. Chaquah attached the following image(s): image.jpg (2,648kb) downloaded 252 time(s). image.jpg (2,472kb) downloaded 252 time(s). image.jpg (3,109kb) downloaded 250 time(s).

Sure looks like Acacia confusa to my untrained eye; see pics in the thread below. Acacia confusa thread.

..it's not the same phyllode type...it's (on quick glance) A. pycnatha...which could be of interest..

Just a FYI .. Taking root bark or trunk bark can kill a tree. Taking some branch bark is more sustainable. Looks similar to confusa but I'm almost sure its not.
Good luck and let us know your results

Ive done my best to make sure the treeS were not harmed too much. We took very little from each tree. A little rootbark and a little treebark from each tree.
I care for nature.

I can see in you're response to my question you have no respect for nature , you should've first ID'd the acacia before you " hack and hope " that there is any alks in it , that to me is showing you have no common sence let alone just common decency !! You no when you go up the bush and you see someone has just raped a tree just for some bark ?? Well that's no differant to what you've done Ya imbecile !!

No need for insults, however it is true that it is much more mindful and kind to he tree to confirm ID before harvesting. Also researching where the target alkaloids in the plant are so to minimise any damage. Confirming a species such as a.confusa isnt hard there is lots of information on the net. The seed pods are the best feature to do this from. The pods in the picture look similar but the phyllodes look more like retinodes or pycnantha.. This thread is a must read for new a.confusa researchers... https://www.dmt-nexus.me...sts&t=32549&p=3

Earthwalker wrote:I can see in you're response to my question you have no respect for nature you seem to know a lot .. without ever asking me a normal question. if you would have taken the time to talk to me first instead of being all judgemental, i could have explained that one of the reasons i am looking for a source of spice, is because i feel ordering bark on the internet without really knowing how it was harvested, is not the way to go, and thats currently my only option. so now i grow my own mimosas, chakruna, peyotes, san pedros and salvia plus i am looking for a way to obtain spice sustainably .. and in the process im also studying to be a beekeeper. so what have you been doing for pachamama lately ?

This thread is a must read for new a.confusa researchers... https://www.dmt-nexus.me...sts&t=32549&p=3 I agree i should maybe have done some more research, but we´ve done very little damage to the trees and time was limited. Its a little silly i have to defend myself here. People should rather look at themselves first. He who is without sin may throw the first stone (or something like that). In fact when you destroy a vegetable plant in order to harvest vegetables, you are being way more evil to the vegetable plant then i was to the trees. If one considers one plant to be more ´special´ or important than the other, he/she is a plant-racist Thanks for the link !

DreaMTripper is correct about insults , and chaquah you're correct maybe I should've asked the reasoning behind the harvest !
So I'm sorry Chaquah , look I'm no tree hugger and many vendors do a bloody long way worse damage then you , I was just amazed at your harvesting before knowing if at all it contained any alkaloids , and I read that as a impulse reaction on your part , the nexus is known for the members being tree friendly and responsibility to sustainability ! Anyway i hope you find what you're searching for , and again sorry for the insult !
