I get this really.gross.feeling. whenever I catch a moment of day or even nighttime television programming. Now I should be clear: I watch sports. Specifically tennis. But that is all I will ever watch. But every television show is just so pretentious. And commercials make me feel disgusting. And the news hurts my brain. Just...all of it. It's filth. The stupidity of it all is just staggering, and then the amount of people that are roped into it is mind-blowing. I caught a few minutes of this TV drama and the way that the actors were trying to be all affected and convey these emotions was just so fake and disingenuous. Does anyone feel similarly?

Absolutely. It's just absolutely trash. The only shows I watch are Top Gear UK and Cosmos and Through the Wormhole. Let's be serious, people loaf like useless masses of skin watching 4 to 6 hours of Honey Boo Boo or what this celebrity did or what this useless housewife said about her new Gucci purse. And PEOPLE BUY INTO THIS CRAP! It astounds me.

This pic resonates strongly with me. It may open a can, but anyone on here who's able to read between the lines will agree with the message behind this image and it's relationship to TV.

Holly wood: staff casts another spell-binder

Know feel Razz . But in the words of Groucho Marx: "I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book."

Anyways; I've heard stuff about Hollywood.

Quote:
(...)one of the sacred trees of the faith of Wicca/Witchcraft. In folklore, the Holly tree/bush is associated with the spirit of vegetation and with the waning forces of nature. The mythical figure of the Holly King in the personification of the spirit of the holly. The Holly King rules nature during its decline from mid-summer through to mid-winter, when, at the winter solstice, he is defeated in ritual combat by his brother the Oak King.

In the 1960's the council on foreign relations and the institute of international affairs had a meeting to decide which country using its film industry would create the international culture of the future.

it was agreed that HollyWood would be given the job to create the worldwide culture to the general public to create a global society.

Holly wood is named "holy wood" and the holy wood is the staff of the magi (bear with me!!) or the staff of the grand magus (of occultism) the magi waves his wand and everything is changed with the casting of a spell. this staff was traditionally made with holly wood (as are chess pieces)

The people that named it knew what they where doing, the had a plan to indoctrinate their views on the unsuspecting movie goers.

I dunno about the CFR/IIA bit...

Quote:
when we also understand that the old magic practicing priests, that the old Celtic druid priests of ancient England (...)work their magic on people with their magic wands, and their magic wands were always made out of holly wood. And they're still working their magic today with Hollywood.

entertain (v.), "to keep up, maintain, to keep (someone) in a certain frame of mind," from Middle French entretenir (12c.), from Old French entretenir "hold together, stick together, support," from entre- "among" (from Latin inter; see inter-) + tenir "to hold" (from Latin tenere; see tenet).

amuse (v.), "to divert the attention, beguile, delude," from Middle French amuser "divert, cause to muse," from a "at, to" (but here probably a causal prefix) + muser "ponder, stare fixedly" (see muse (v.)). Sense of "divert from serious business, tickle the fancy of" is recorded from 1630s, but through 18c. the primary meaning was "deceive, cheat" by first occupying the attention. Bemuse retains more of the original meaning.

Programming.

Remote control.

Laughing

Seriously though.
All readable matter in the above post is ficticious.

Any similarities to real life are purely coincidental.

Without prejudice.

Most if not all the major league sports in the USA are completely rigged.

I would rather watch a cloud.

I never really thought much of TV until I got stoned and sat in front of one.... Then the insanity of it, in all its far reaching facets, became mind numbingly apparent. I learned a lot about human psychology those first few times I smoked weed and watched TV. Then I pretty much turned it off for good.

That sounds a lot like the elections in Australia.

TV is used to basically brainwash people into believing that 1/3 of the country just changed their minds about someone that they have a deep seeded long term hatred for. When the fixed election comes off and the puppet is installed people have been preconditioned (by opinion polls on TV and other media) to accept the fixed result without question.

In the few cases where federal election results were challenged there was found to be serious incompetence or as I believe meddling by AEC staff. If every seat was challenged it would be revealed for the scam it is.

It was fake. They were acting.

Some television is ok. You just have to use noodle and work out where the off button is at the appropriate time.

It´s been about 13 years since I`ve last watched TV.

I equate it to junk food. Sure there might be `some` nutrients there but it´s just so much crap it´s not worth it IMO.

The problem isn´t even just the content quality of the programs, what bothers me the most is the amount of advertisement and `noise` that is nearly impossible to block out.

I do know from others, that there is some quality content in some specific channels in some specific times.. But I rather just get the recommendations and download the program, or watch something equivalent through the internet, and avoid all the noise that comes with TV.

Each one to their own though Smile

I think watching tv programs on the internet is the same as watching tv. I havent watched a physical television (atleast not in my native language) for a couple of years but when watching programs made for tv on my pc i cannot see the difference.
It seems to me that people have more of a problem with the advertising on TV rather than the content of the programs (i am fully prepared to admit that there is a large amount of sh*te on tv).
Now this gives me a worrying dillemma. In that the people who are sucked into the advertising world and sit there goggle eyed, feeding off of the BS, should not be watching TV, as it is no good for them. Whereas the people who see the advertising for what it is, should watch more TV and give an eye opening, social commentary on the disadvantages of such practices to those that need our advice. We owe it to humanity to watch as much BS on tv and then give our counsel from the highest rooftops on how crap it is.

I have to agree with this. The only sport i regularly watch is motogp which is owned by Dorna ( a Spanish company). Now all we get is bloody Spanish riders winning all of the time. I am not against the Spanish, i just find it a bit boring.

I think it depends on what context you are watching TV in. If you are just sitting there letting TV wash over you without a single thought in your brain then its probably soul sucking but if you are watching it for some educational purpose or something then its probably not as bad.

Get rid of your TV and get some sort of Sports channel on the Internet. If you got a TV, it will always be tempting to switch it on to watch random crap. Same goes for junk food. Don't buy it, don't hord it. If there is candy in your house, it will disappear into your stomach sooner or later. Or just be disciplined...but you might find that you want to preserve your energy to be disciplined for more important matters than addictions.

Probably the best form of TV-watching that I've seen was when a group got together to watch one of the more freaky Planet Earth nature programs...Some of those are like a documentary about an alien planet they're so weird. They put it on mute, blasted shpongle, and smoked joints outside during commercials Razz

Lol. Last time I sat down to watch TV was on the night of my country's elections. I was on LSD. The insanity.

I think that the worst aspect of TV is not the advertising or the propaganda, but the constant conditioning to passivity. You are in essence engaging in an activity where you are shut out of interaction. Every moment you spend focused on the one eyed altar brings you further into the state of submission.

Read what Owsley Stanley said on Children's Television. I would go further and suggest that watching TV teaches you to be hypnotized.

It is possible to watch TV from the vantage point of the person behind the camera. Critically observing what is put into focus, what isn't. What is put inside the frame, what is left out. At least you're getting a bit of mental excercise, but you're essentially still stuck in submission.

I believe I read somewhere that watching TV and entering into the trance state triggers the release of a cocktail of endorfines.

It can also help to educate you.

I don"t know about nowadays but i think that there was a lot of very good television programs on when i was a kid. Tv is like another modern evil that people have kneejerk reactions to. Money. It all depends on how you decide to use it.
