I was thinking the other day about the general respect and demeanor that people have towards the magic molecule. And then i was wondering how much of that attitude is derived from the Nexus and overlaid into the real world. What do yall think? There's a very similar respect towards ayahuasca that has been around long before the nexus. I think it depends. I have friends that havent even made a visit here. You could say their respect for it comes from my teachings, you could also say my attitude is influenced by the same attitude that the general nexus population has. Or they have their respect for it cause they saw what it can do, what it does ect. "Energy flows where attention goes" [Please review the forum Wiki and FAQ before posting questions]

I know a lot of people who think it's just good drugs, me included. But then again now a days it's the only drug I chose to do regularly. But respect no not really, i do think that overdoing it is unwise, but this go's for all drugs. On the nexus i do notice that there is is a somewhat elite (maybe this is not the right word) vibe around the drug. Its something really special to most of us here, maybe more than it should be for some. You are opening yourself up for a lot responses here, my friend. I personal think that DMT speaks to a lot of people on a very deep level. It touches on things that everyone thinks about and opens us up to amazingly profound experiences. Even if you don't buy into that (which I have a hard time believing if you actually smoke regularly or semi-regularly), it's sheer potential to help people makes it worthy of at least a certain amount of respect. Blessings ~ND "There are many paths up the same mountain."

Quote:which I have a hard time believing if you actually smoke regularly or semi-regularly More then ten years have tough me that it's just a drug, sure the first year (s) where a sort of revelation period for me as well. And I still have the occasional honeymoon period every now and then. Quote:The Nexus is crawling with people (myself included) who tell stories of how DMT (freebased or in Ayahuasca) or DMT analogues (4-HO-DMT jumps to mind) helped them break away from depression, substance addiction and gave us a new sense of wonder and lease on life. I don't want to step on anyone's toe's, I'm just giving my opinion, and I'm definitely not saying that this go's for anyone else here on the nexus, dmt is a highly personal thing. dmt is a highly personal thing. I find these statements to be in conflict. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead
"Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids" - 9th century Arab proverb

Personally I think that DMT, as well as many other psychedelics can be far more than "just a drug". When I think of the term "just a drug", I think of something that induces a state which consists of merely euphoria and mental or emotional numbness. Typically the compounds that I would consider to be "just drugs" are those that are primarily used as a means of escape, often from a reality that the user cannot handle or does not want to put up with. DMT, like almost any substance, certainly can be used as just a drug. I think one's intentions are a significant factor. In my experience when a person smokes DMT to get high and see some crazy colors and shapes for a few minutes, that's often all they will get from it. But when a person smokes DMT with the intention of self-reflecting or investigating their spirituality (whatever that means to the individual), it has a much larger potential to be a catalyst for mental and spiritual self-improvement. From my perspective this seems to be unique to certain psychedelics, and the substances which I would be more inclined to refer to as "just drugs" completely lack this potential. Obviously this is only my perspective and you are completely free to formulate your own, regardless of whether it parallels or contradicts mine. As others have mentioned, many people on this forum tend to take this discussion very seriously. Many seem to get offended when someone suggests an opinion which may contrast their own beliefs regarding DMT's sacredness, or lack thereof. Although I may share similar beliefs with some of these people, I do not agree with the way that I have seen some react to opics in the same ballpark as yours. I have my beliefs about what DMT is, what it means, how significant/sacred it is, and how I should use it. Other people's beliefs on the subject don't affect me in any way, and frankly they are none of my damn business!
