I just wanted to take a moment and reflect on just how far we've come the last several years... I remember reading the old DMT World forum that was, in spirit at least, the predecessor to this forum. And I remember reading the DMT-Nexus in its original incarnation (pre-2008
) before I joined. And man, things have come a long way! It's really wonderful what this site has accomplished.
I think this forum made the greatest contribution to developing a variety of safe extraction methods that take into account different people's access to different acids, bases, and solvents, as well as peoples individual ethical concerns (e.g. eco-friendly teks). Just think, it wasn't long ago that most people who tried to extract DMT would wind up following either Quantum Tantra (QT) or Yoda's methods, and either get hopelessly mired in the process or potentially end up with harmful contaminants in their product. That's a big point for the Nexus in the field of harm reduction.
In the last few years, some real valuable plant analysis has also come out of this site, including important analytical work on vines like
Alicia anisopetala being mislabeled (or misleadingly labeled) as "ayahuasca". Good for science and good for harm reduction.
The reputation of the Nexus seems to be healthy as well. We're regarded positively (or at least not unkindly) by academics in the field. One of our members put his face out before the public on our behalf twice, presenting the information developed on this site at both the Psychedemia conference and the Psychedelic Science conference.
And the future is really looking bright as well. New projects like
The Nexian (both the eZine and the online magazine) give me a sense of optimism that we can continue to grow as a relevant and positive force in the world of psychedelics. And there's still great work going on here, such as the ongoing efforts with
Phalaris and
Acacia.
I am grateful to everyone who has been a part of this progress. It's amazing to see what this community can do. And I look forward to seeing what we will continue to do in the future.
And let's not forget, none of it would have been possible without the constant efforts of our fearless leader.
Thank you, Traveler!
[Also, apologies to everyone whose projects and contributions I didn't mention. There have been a lot of great ones, and they all helped make this place what it is today]
