First off, this is my first thread so I hope I meet your guy's posting expectations, I've read quite of bit of stuff on the wiki and browsed the forums some. While I really only registered an account to pm a thank you to the guy who made a thread on acrb extraction that was integral to my personal success (which apparently I cannot do Crying or very sad ) I figured I might as well try to be a part of this wonderful community.

I have more than enough freshly extracted white fluffy acrb dmt thanks to all of you guys and a more than adequate vaporizer for the job and before I attempt to break through I'd like to know your guys' opinions on listening to music during the trip since I'm pretty sure there will be varied answers.

Having a stoner past (and present Laughing ) my psychedelic experience is rather limited, I've smoked a little bit of salvia once a while ago not taking it seriously because I just wanted to get my feet wet and nothing really ensued other than general confusion and sweatiness followed by relief when it was over and I've gotten the general view from what other people have said about salvia that's it's really just not the greatest, while I don't doubt at all it can be incredibly rewarding if done right. I did not have enough respect at the time.

My only real experience tripping was on a rather heavy dose of iboga and I still consider that one of the most worthwhile experiences of my life and I'd highly recommend it. I know iboga is a very unique plant and experience that deserves much respect and is far from the dmt breakthrough experience.

During the iboga trip I had music playing in the background for most of it and it was certainly more interesting and a bit distorted (sounded like it was sped up) but I don't know if it really added to the whole introspective nature of iboga or if it distracted me from what the trip was supposed to be about.

Now since I know DMT is like nothing else and indescribable with spoken or written language I don't want to have my first time hindered by distraction so I was wondering if you guys with a bit of experience could weigh in; and what the best method and volume level is. Being a bit of an audio enthusiast I own really nice comfortable headphones as well speakers with great sound and I mainly listen to more downtempo and psybient stuff like carbon based lifeforms, bluetech, emancipator, that sort of thing (When I'm loaded anyway).

Also if background noise from appliances or whatever has any sort of pull in the experience.

TL;DR:

I'm going to attempt to breakthrough dose and was wondering how the sound should be.

Mind: i can only speak for 5-MeO-DMT. I don't have experience with DMT and don't know if or how this can translate.
imo: sound will be only important when you come up and when you come down again.
That is: If you indeed breakthrough.
But for coming up and coming down it's nice.
I'd personaly recommend anything that
- you like sober
- you are in the mood when doing it
- (maybe) is more on the chilled side
- (maybe) has no vocals or at least no ordinary vocals.

Thanks for the input homme, makes a lot of sense and I'm sure 5meo is similar enough for comparison. I get the impression a lot of people have issues breaking through so I'm thinking chill music would be a good idea but if anyone else has an opinion I'd love to hear it as well.

Humm well it depends of your preferences but for example with salvia I mostly hear God Is An Astronaut, Crane's Dreams and my favorite Ludovico Einaudi, he really knows how to touch you Big grin.

At times I find DMT is quite scary without music (I trip alone). I like gentle, soothing music- preferably with a girl singing, it really takes off the nerves for me. But sometimes some trance/psychedelic music if I'm really energetic and feel confident.
Maybe try different styles of music using pre-breakthrough dosage and see what you prefer?

Thanks for the input, from the pre-breakthrough experimentation last night I'd say some nice familiar music is probably the way to go as it's nice to have a constant in such a reality changing substance.

I am a music/sound fiend. If I could inject music, I would. I am a gear fetishist also. I love vintage tube audio, especially Dynaco and Heathkit. I'm not as obsessed with music as I used to be, but I still have approximately 5 thousand compact discs and only about a thousand pieces of vinyl. I lost a lot of my vinyl to a thief Sad (also: over a year's worth of music on my hard drives)

I owned a records store and a recording studio.

I love music and when I've taken lsd or shrooms in the past, music was my first priority.

I use NO music with dmt. If your dose is sufficient, it won't matter if you have quiet music playing or if there is a death metal band playing in your bedroom.

2:1 or 3:1 changa joints may be a different story. I've tried that, and it as okay, but even soothing music sometimes took on a dark character and started to frighten me. DMT doesn't really make music sound any different or better to me. It just sounds like regular old music. Not like on cannabis, lsd etc.

Try it in silence.

If you really need music, save it for the come down and afterglow. Even then, you might not want it. I don't want other people's ideas interfering with the work going on in my brain.

Those are my personal views on music and dmt, You may be different.

I didnt breakthrough yet.

But at closest subbreak I had one of my favorite dj sets playing (with a genre I enjoy a lot ...some deep electro/house ... pretty chill not bouncy type)

I was curious how it would sound + I know the set by HEART and I hoped I could use it as a timeline ...remembering what I saw at what sound of the track and when I could expect to return ( I estimated 3 mixed songs .. 7-8 mins)

As I exhaled and all got crazy the sound turned into waves ...like oscilator sounds ...like glitching pc sounds and I knew it was a melodic bit in real life. I couldnt distinguish what song was playing anymore and I wouldnt have called it music at all ...rather like machinery noise...but it wasnt unpleasant ...no ..just awkward in an interesting way.

I 2nd mister_niles advice and suggest total silence and dim to little light.
My first heavy 40-50 dose I listened to israel vibration dub it was beautiful and guided my first voyage like the north star.
However I find the silence gives you such powerful contrast to the ambient shriek-screech of hyperpace. You know the trip is a totally interior conjuration when in silent darkness.

Implemented music during the last trip.. It seemed to provide a constant to the whole experience, but personally, no music seems to be more suitable. It lets one focus on the sounds and vibrations ocurring. The clicks, clangs, and wooshes. The language that can't quite be comprehended but still understood.

I actually prefer music. I have tried many different ways and you can sometimes achieve different effects. Although not really in a predictable manner.

Sometimes I will not use music but rather a small fan to break up and house noises as I find these can distract me during the launch.

Volume level. Never loud. I would say at the point where if you were talking quietly someone else in the room could clearly understand you.

Music like the type by bluetech, shulman, entheogenic ect are great. I have used other types like slight dubstep but more chill style and one of my favs is the bhagavad gita sung in sanskrit. I think its the one at bhagavad-gita.us

I like to find a nice smooth ambient theta isochronic tones vid on youtube. I warm myself up with that first and while its playing I toke. It really helps to keep in that trance.

I personally suggest no music,

Hyperspace will provide enough sounds to blow your mind and leaving you thinking, 'WTFOMG-WHAT-WERE-THOSE-SOUNDDDS???'

Also, with a breakthrough experience the sounds of this realm will likely be irrelevant.

Have fun and be safe,

Regardless I highly recommend music with non breakthrough doses. It can be very emotional if you choose the right tunes.

The other night I had a relatively strong trip into what I thought was an infinite lopping kaleidoscopes, and this recording of icaros seemed really nice. I think it might have influenced the visuals so that the morphing moved to the rhythm of the icaros.

the first time i did dmt i had no sound. glad i did. just a candle, a sitter and silence. was amazing and i was blown away. then i met antrocles and he turned me onto solpheggio frenquencies and binaural beats. that seemed to call in spirits as i've never had an encounter like that. i've also had great results with tibeten bowls. i know it sound a bit new age but something about the frequencies really works for me with the spice. you have to search around till you find the sound that works with you. i have not used this particular vid but it's just for the idea. blessings!

Hey Fruitcake Smile

I tend to have music playing most of the time I'm at home, and usually leave it on if I'm going foir a light experience or even if not it's nice to come back to some soothing music. I find that music has come with me on a few breakthroughs and shaped the experience completely. For example I usually listen to psybient or similar and an Arabian sounding song came on, poof I'm basically roaming around Agraba from Alladin, complete with Jafar like beings doing magic, beings riding magic carpets etc... It was all moving and pulsing to the beat of the song. It was really an enjoyable experience.

So I can't completely agree that it doesn't matter if you have music playing or not, but I do suggest that you try both silence and with music. I just don't like coming back to complete silence or the sound of my washing machine on the spin cycle.

This is a great site for ambient/psybient music http://psy-amb.blogspot.com/
and this is my favourite mix for some chilled out changa vibes and the occasional breakthrough - http://psy-amb.blogspot....mix-download-psyamb.html

If you scroll down you can listen to the mixes before downloading them.

Peace and happy travels Smile

birthing golden vibrations,
that echo through folds of space & time,
ferry my soul closer to God

I also prefer silence or just nature sounds like wind, forest, birds or wave sounds near the sea.But I tried some musics in the past and Sade was my favourite dmt singer,I was listening Sade's songs with just dmt.

This song is perfect for me if I want to listen something with dmt...
