I wasn't sure wether or not this topic would be allowed or prohibited for being "synth talk",
but I figured it would be okay as there currently are a number of synth-topics that are allowed and haven't been removed or closed.

From what I understand Synth-talk is allowed here as long as it doesn't involve dangerous chemicals or risky, complicated procedures that a Kitchen Chemist couldn't safely execute.

If I am wrong in assuming this then I apologise in advance and this topic will just have to be deleted.


Now here's my question:
Would it be safe & doable for a Kitchen chemist to convert 5-HO-DMT into NN,DMT?
Would "knocking off" that 5-Hydroxy group be simple and safe enough to do for a Kitchen Chemist?


(In case you want to know why I'd want to do that: Extracting 12% 5-HO-DMT from Cebil or Yopo seeds and converting it into a roughly similair amount of NN sounds like a good deal to me)

In short, no.

It would be difficult even for a proper lab chemist and would definitely require hazardous, if not watched, chemicals.

Some people have said they'd be more interested in the reverse - converting DMT to bufotenine - which just might be possible using H2O2 and FeSO4.

EDIT: Make Calcium bufotenate and [strike]smoke[/strike] chromatograph that.
