Nice specimen

There's this peruvianus close to the beach, never seen one so big, had no idea they could be

Its in a church yard, the main trunk is taller than the church itself, and thicker than 1.5'

Its like solid bark at the bottom, and the "pups" all around it are the size of your specimen.

Man, I would love to harvest a chunk of wisdom from it.... Can't tho. Probably weighs more than a car if I size it up. Will take a photo sometime

That looks like my peruvianus. I wouldn't be surprised if they were kin! Mine is not the strongest as far as alkaloid content, but the trips I've had from it were my favorite cacti trips by far. Very smooth, warm, and colorful.

Enjoy!Thumbs up

Beautiful!

@ wearepeople, there is a ton of confusion around macrogronus and whether it is actually just another T. peruvianus or an actual valid species. The whole taxonomy and nomenclature thing confuses the hell out of me.

Yeah, I know what you mean hostilis. I was at a cacti nursery and saw Peruvians side-by-side with Macrogonus. Or at least what the nursery was calling macrogonus.

I asked the owner what the difference between the two is. He said, "well apparently not much. But it seems the arms are larger in diameter in macrogonus and the areoles are further apart". Once he pointed that out, I could tell the difference between what he called macrogonus and Peruvians. But who knows, maybe they're just two different variations of Peruvians, one large diameter, one small.

Unfortunately my camera was out of batteries, but I'll take pics next time I'm there. He had some Trichs I've never heard of before.
