I am right there with you, but unfortunately, this is largely old news. The pharmaceutical industries have been pushing ADD medication of children for a while now. The pattern seems to be that parents find their children overwhelming and hard to control, so they opt to pump them full of amphetamines and amphetamine analogues, all the while being assured by the pharmaceutical industries, and the government (which has been essentially bought by the pharmaceutical industries) that what they are doing is perfectly safe and even the best thing for their child.
Given some of the coverage I've seen, the tide may be starting to turn in the other direction, but there's actually something worse coming down the pipeline.
The rates at which young children are being diagnosed with bipolar disorder are on the rise, and those poor children are being given antipsychotics, instead of stimulants. You think Adderal and Adderal XR are bad, wait till you give Seroquel (which was just recently approved for use in children) a try.
Look up the story of Rebecca Riley: she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder before the age of 5, and ultimately the cocktail of drugs she was prescribed killed her. Her poor parents were reassured that they were doing the right thing by their doctor, and of course, they didn't know anything about pharmacology, and now both of them are going to spend the rest of their lives in jail for murder.

I try very hard never to get angry, however, I really would like to do serious harm to the people who profited off the medications that killed that little girl.
