Hello all,

I have a question (prefaced with a story) that perhaps someone can help me with. Yesterday was the first day I have had free in a long time. I was anxious to catch up on long-lost recreation, but at the end of the day, I felt unproductive nevertheless. I felt as though I could not remember what I used to do for fun, or at least that I did not enjoy the things I used to enjoy. I felt helpless and unable to enjoy myself: Unable to accomplish anything but also unable to relax.
At one point I daydreamed of psychedelic experience, as I often do. I imagined that I was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling. My perceptions were not distorted. Rather, they were crystal clear. My vision, hearing, and sight were completely untainted, so instead of being sensually and intellectually overwhelmed, everything was utterly still: For once, I could tune in to the silence around me and in my mind. My internal dialogue was absent, and I was able to manipulate thoughts unclumsily as though they were concrete objects as opposed to phantoms. The clarity of my perceptions was breath-taking, and the stillness of my world was so intense that my sense of consciousness expanded into the void around me.

So, my question is, what drug was I imagining? I am not quite sure that I have ever had such an experience. I would compare the imagined experience to past experiences of 5-meo-dmt, adderall, or maybe mephedrone, but these are old experiences and my memory of them is foggy. Based on my description, do you have any suggestions of a drug that might help me realize this envisioned experience?

Thanks.

but I only imagined it. It didn't actually happen. I experienced it no more than your reading over my description counts as "experiencing it".

Drugs? Nope.

States like that aren't the kind you dose drugs for, though. The challenge of getting that one state out of the infinite possibility isn't worth the assistance provided by a small dose of LSD (which is what I'd suggest, if I had to).
It seems as if your imagination was kind enough to leave clear instructions, though... so why not just follow those? It's not really an opportunity to take for granted, after all.

Not all drugs are as unpredictable as LSD, so I wouldn't suspect LSD to be the best choice. On the other hand, there's nothing like LSD to help a person fold an infinite concept into a tiny package. If there really are infinite possible states of consciousness, then psychedelics may be the only way check all of them in a finite amount of time. However, I really think that there must be a drug more specific to the experience I described (if not now, then at least in the future there will be).

Sure, there ought to be. Hell, there probably is. Even so... it takes at least a nominal amount of work to bring about a particular state like that, even a drug-induced one. If it's possible for you to sit there and ponder it, it is possible for you to achieve it... But to do so requires learning what what you're dealing with, and how to participate with the environment (whatever that is) in order to realize that potential. Waiting for the right drug to do it for you when you can do it yourself is a bit lazy, isn't it?

Drug states come and go, but learning to create the world you want to live in as a consequence of your actions... That's an experience that sticks with you for life, and a lesson you're never done learning.

I have actually experienced states of consciousness like what you described many times. i often wonder myself if i would be able to achieve such a state, in hopes that i would remain there indefinitely.

I had a professor tell me once that psychedelics "temporarily" spike your consciousness far above your normal state of mind. The only problem is that this is indeed temporary. A glimpse of what actually could and can be. Psychedelics give us the chance to explore our consciousness, however if you do not implement a practice of discipline along with it, Such as meditation techniques. You will have a hard time finding balance and proper integration.

I have often experimented with low doses of DMT along with my meditation practices. Allowed me gently reach what i was after with a little bit of discipline and focus.

My best advice is to start meditating every day. It is the same as going to the gym and working out... basically because within a month you notice a difference. two months your getting a lot stronger and after a few years you have a lot to show for it.
