For some reason the mycelium never pinned. It's been a while now and only 2 pins came up and grew into weirdly shaped mushrooms. I think the blue is just bruising from strain, I am not sure why the part connected to the mycelium is so skinny. Why did I only get 2 mushrooms? Could it be the spores? These were the cheapest option online which. Is probably why they don't work.

Could I cut up my cakes and attempt a bulk grow? I've never tried one.

Those two shrooms look like they are ACHING for way more fresh air exchange.

^^^^I second that. Do you have a fan lightly blowing on your FC? All it takes is a small breeze.

Ok the caps are almost all blue, some are lighter shades than others. Is this just because of bruising! I did mist the mushrooms directly, but they look uniformly blue as if they grew thus way. These are the albino strain and should be white. Also can anyone identify what is on the cap of this one mushroom and if it's safe to eat. I think it's just a mutation and it's growing more mycelium, I am planning on eating it thus far.

They are still very long and skinny. They would do better with more fresh air. I recommend putting a few more holes around the bottom of the tub, just above your pearlite layer. Carbon dioxide building up in there is what makes them so long. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air, so lower holes will let more out. To a point higher CO2 is not that bad, but yours still look a bit too slim.

As for the blue caps, they are fine. They don't look aborted, so the blue is so prevalent because you have an albino strain. And yeah, there are almost always mutants. They won't hurt you to eat them.

more FAE.... read about it, correct the construction of your shotgun fruiting chamber... etc.

1) are the holes .25"?
2) are the holes 2" apart?
3) are the holes on all 6 sides of the chamber?
4) is that chamber in a closet or other confined/close space?

also when doing cakes AFOAF now uses strait rye or wheat instead of verm and brown rice flower, so much more nutes in the pure grain, my FOAF is still getting decent flushes on flush no 4 and 5.

My problem is FAE. It's growing in a cabinet, but I take of the lid and fan it 3 times a day. At the moment I don't have my own place so I don't have the liberty of growing in ideal conditions. I'll continue growing when I get my apartment unless I find a better alternative.

Bluing can also be a sign of dehydration.
