Well, I know that this topic has been brought up a few times in the past and I've participated in one of these conversations but I would like to dig a little deeper into this. Many of you probably know what I'm referring to - "brain shocks" or the sounds of shards cracking in the brain while using some of the popular substances discussed in this website.

For me this only happens after I've taken an MAOI, either from rue or cappi. It's a sharp shocking sound/feeling but I think the sound of a diamond cracking into shards is a good example of what I'm hearing. It's painless and actually welcoming IMO and I often get the feeling that it's my third eye or pineal gland cracking opening literally. It's followed by strong CEV's If the MAOI's are still taking effect and mild CEV's in the days that follow. I will get these shocks for sometimes a month after using an oral MAOI. They only come when I'm nice and relaxed and laying down for sleep.

I think that this is important for me and I'd like to discuss this with others and see if we can come to any conclusions as to what this is.

I can't say I've experienced this from MAOI's from what I remember, although I have felt sensations sometimes when I'm relaxed and prior to sleep. Not really a cracking though, more of a subtle twisting sensation that to me feels centered around my third eye. Not unpleasant, and I've had this after MOAI ingestion too. I definitely had the shards cracking sound/feeling very similar to how you describe on my one full DMT breakthrough experience. It was vivid and loud and I both heard and felt it, and I had the immediate feeling following it "Now I've done it!!" (And I had...). The tear from reality was so sudden and so powerful and so complete that part of my brain scrambling for logic could only suggest I must have killed myself somehow.

"Brain shocks" are generally associated with SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome, and are one of the major problems people experience while trying to wean themselves off of SSRIs.

I'm not sure how taking an MAOI might prompt similar symptoms, although MAOIs and SSRIs both mess around with the regulation of monoamine neurotransmitters, so I could see them being related.

I'm getting this a lot now, except the tissue is actually moving. It doesn't just happen in the head, but pretty much all over my body. However, if I focus on the inside of my head, I sometimes get zaps that freeze my whole body, followed by strange sensations of falling into myself. What's interesting is that there is actual movement inside the head (that happens on it's own), and I always try to keep it going but at the lowest possible speed. I'm pretty sure if I turned the dial up there would be something more intense happening in there.

Well only time I have felt "brain shocks" is the one time that I vaped DMT alone (no harmalas) and ended up in this sort of surgery place with "quantum machines" and I felt strong electrical shocks inside my brain about 7+ times, didn't really hurt but the feeling was very very physical.

I've had my brain/muscles twitch or jolt sort of like being shocked while in the harmalas trance a lot, which can be followed by some interesting vision, but its not so much a cracking and i dont think accompanied by any sound, so maybe thats different. The jolt only lasts half a second.

The last time i took over 50mg harmalas was in a sensory deprivation tank, and every time this would happen i'd immediately snap into this 3rd person ariel view of myself and see the water rippling around me from the vibrations of the jolt.

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

I've had an uncomfortable shockwave seem to pass through my brain. A series of them, for an hour or so. This was from oral harmalas+vaped spice. It was strange and worrying, like a ripple that seemed to jolt it's way through my physical brain.

This happened in the middle of an already harrowing experience--my one and only true hyperslap. it's not a sensation that I hope to ever repeat.

No pop, no noise....maybe similar to what UC is talking about, maybe not the same as what the OP and others are on about, idk.
