I have done DMT maybe 8 times now. In a relatively short amount of time. My first expirence was absoluty beautiful. I was listening to a lot of terrence mckenna, and his expirences. He explained how many hits to take and to make sure to take that last hit even though your already feeling strange. It makes all the difference. At first I was very scared and my body felt like I was wet? like really wet. Beautiful visuals.

The past few times i have been doing it at night in my bed with the lights off. I loved that fact that i was seeing the same things with my eyes opeaned or closed.

But to the point now. The past few times i made some poppy tea several hours prior to smoking spice. It greatly took away the pre smoke jitters. And after the spice it allowed to to get in a really deep metitative space. has anyone else tried this and what are your thoughts.

Opiates are addictive and definitely take from the experience. I have done it though, [in opiate addiction days] and yes, it will take away the fear. Be careful using them, they have many downsides.

Better to face it head on sober....or, even better, on a natural MAOI.

I get really calm after taking oral harmalas and caapi leaf tea or at times, oral caapi vine. Once in a while I'll smoke harmalas freebase too. I let the MAOI soak in and it will really calm you down and get your head on straight for the trip. I will meditate do some yogic stretching or some breathing exercises, light incense, set the lights and music in my room. I would say I usually take half hour to an hour to prepare after I drop harmalas.

IF you decide not to smoke DMT you get a nice not addictive airy anti-depressant feeling anyway. MAOI's also greatly enhance the DMT experience and aid in remembering it IMO.

Usually by the time the pipe is in my hand theres no where else I would rather be.

Good luck.

When so found these limits turn out to be further beliefs to be transcended. In the province of the mind there are no limits. However, in the province of the body there are definite limits not to be transcended.-J.C. Lilly

^^^ caapi leaf tea is an excellent mood stabiliser, plus other things. all i have is literally 3-4 caapi leaves and same of chacruna. just puts you on the level. above advice is sound in my short experience drinking it, which i may put into an old micro-dosing thread. the affect is quick, noticeable but subtle.

also flower essences whilst on aya brews were always pretty cool for me but 10-15 mins b4 smoking spice should help too. someone on here said smile as you launch, sounds like a cool idea to me.

also i had a puff on a natural salt inhaler after i smoked a little bit and that chilled my lungs and put a smile on my face.

edited for a more responsibile post, thx

While it may seem a little counter-intuitive at first glance, sometimes the best way to ease the anxiety of a DMT experience is with....well...DMT! Take a small dose to get some mild visual activity going, and then when you're nice and calm and comfy, reload and go for broke. It's somehow much easier to pick up the pipe when you've already got the energies flowing a bit. Being calmer allows for grander experiences as well.

I have also noticed a very comfortable anf relaxed state with lower dose DMT [especially [acacia spice]..
At this dose..[on acacia spice]// im sleeping on a cloud.... feel safe and comforted.... pain no longer exists..
I have also noticed this calm relaxed feeling of we being on low dose mimosa spice...
It seems strange that something that can be so comforting.. [can].. also escalate into a roller coaster ride just from a higher dose?

I found I just have to go Nike, and "just do it."Shocked

I always am a little nervous on the first go.

Sometimes ya just gotta let go (a lesson in itself).Cool

Personally, I don't advocate taking any sedative before traveling. It just puts up a wall around your feelings. And your emotional response is an important part of the Lesson!

I would really discourage anyone from using poppy tea to calm their nerves before a DMT experience. Any substance that a person combines with DMT is going to affect the experience. In some of my more reckless, naive days, I tried easing my pre-flight anxiety with alcohol (both small and large amounts), benzodiazepines, opiates, muscle relaxers, kratom, and probably a few other drugs I can't remember off the top of my head. Every single one of those drugs either significantly dulled the experience or caused very pronounced anxiety during and after the DMT experience, much worse than the anxiety I would feel before takeoff.

I completely agree with All Hail HypnoToad on this.

I have found that the most effective way for me to avoid anxiety before a DMT experience is to ensure a comfortable, relaxed setting. Personally, I like to burn incense, listen to calming music, and meditate for a short period before vaporizing the spice. I have had a lot of success with these methods.

Being a person who has experienced the horrible reality of heroin addiction, I really don't suggest anyone take any sort of opiate unless they are in excruciating physical pain.

But all I that can share are my experiences and my opinions, so you do whatever works for you.

I still feel a tinge of nervousness prior to vaping - not a big deal, but on a couple of occasions I've journeyed after a kava drinking session* and found the combination to be very pleasant. Kava extract would be the best, if you can find it or do the extraction yourself. Without the burden of anxiety or background worries, I seamlessly transitioned from one reality into another, then back again. Felt very organic.

* just a footnote: I am a seasoned kava drinker (14+ years experience drinking the stuff in several Pacific islands)
