Hey guys, I've been having problems breaking through on Pharmahuasca. I think it's because of SSRIs. Does anyone else have similar experiences? I've read up on this and many people say that their DMT experiences are lessened, in many cases it takes months to regain the original experience level. Any theories why this happens?
Edit: To breakthrough, i need to take a gram of dmt with at least 200mg of harmalas. There's something really wrong here. Has anyone gone thru this?

Not sure if troll thread. https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...dication_interaction.3F
Quote:What IS dangerous is interaction between any MAOIs (including harmalas) and stimulants or some medication such as SSRI medication such as prozac, or stimulants such as amphetamines or others. If you're taking SSRI's, do not consume MAOIs!! Do not mix stimulants with MAOIs either! Mixing stimulants/SSRIs with MAOIs can cause Serotonin Syndrome which may lead to convulsions or even death. For pharmaceuticals and substances that should NEVER be taken when consuming harmalas, check List 1 and List 2

What seems is that you just read the title and quickly clicked the reply button. I didn't go to the hospital, I didn't have serotonin syndrome, I have a long-lasting effect that: 1. Diminishes the visuals 2. Prevents a true breakthrough 3. Prevents the insanity/synesthesia and the feeling that you're literally in your head 4. Also requires insane doses (Right now, 1G of DMT fumarate and 200mg Harmala HCL) Is this going to stay with me for life, or will my brain repair itself over time (alternatively, are the SSRIs the ones that repair and prevent the brain from being incapacitated by DMT, and me taking DMT is removing the prevention in the first place..?). Anyways, I can't believe a cynical asshole is the first person to reply to this post. This is supposed to be a mature community.

Stop taking it! taking SSRI's and MAOI's is very dangerous! I really want to try the stuff and want to try smoking an MAOI with spice but i am on a SSRI so i cant and wont. Serotonin syndrome is not something to mess with.

Ok maybe i was not clear enough, I am not on SSRIs, I took Ayahuasca twice, then I was on SSRIs for a while, took a break, and tried Ayahuasca again. Now the trips are nothing like before.

SSRIs cause downregulation of 5HT2a receptors post-synaptically so, at a basic level, theres fewer sites for DMT to act giving a diminished effect. I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Thanks, i'm gonna look into this.. I have a feeling that my receptors are indeed downregulated. Do you know if they re balance themselves over time, or a way to upregulate them? Downregulation side effects state that "..a larger dose maybe required, in most cases, exponentially..", and that both agonists and antagonists downregulate 5HT2A. For future posters: If you are gonna act like the kids above, go do it in another post, I'm not interested in talking to you. Edit: Apparently 5HT2A downregulation is temporary. It takes time to heal, but since I was on SSRIs for a short time it should be fine. Also, it can be sped up with SJW, showing a 50% increase in 5HT2A and b ceptors. Thanks , gonna start a regimen for a month or so, see if it helps me.

The receptors can balance themselves out ie get 'upregulated' but this can be associated with a return of depressive symptoms.Theres no way Im aware of to hasten the process. Im sorry you got jumped on for being a troll (incorrectly IMO);your initial post was a little unclear but was responded to a little harshly without seeking clarification of what you meant. Lesson of the day- seek clarifications before assuming/suggesting theres a troll about. I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. How long were you on SSRI's before coming back to Ayahuasca? How long ago was this? The time to reverse effects of SSRI's varies from person to person, but can range from weeks to months.

And enjoy your one week off to cool down. When you are back I expect you to behave or else you are out for good. To the other people in this thread who were passive aggressive: next time I see you doing that again you will get a timeout too. As a member of the DMT-Nexus I expect you all to behave in a respectful manner, either you reply with a sensible thing to state or you don't reply at all. The Traveler
