While my bridgesii were staying outside over the summer some of them managed to get diseased =(

They are quite young – maybe 3 years old or so and about 12–15cm tall. The diseased areas (blackened patches) only cover 1–3cm at the tops.

Here it’s late autumn and I have moved them indoors and stopped watering. I plan on getting the scalpel out and cropping off the tops, will they take this at this time of year?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

pictures would help, but my vote is for leaving them alone- they typically will outgrow it w/o surgery

So here are the three with issues. 2 have black patches, and the third something has eaten a hole out of it. Nothing seems to be living in there at the moment.

i'd hold off on cutting unless the area around the wound gets soft and squishy-
if it gets soft like, time for radical action

good luck

ps, nice looking babes, look like cross between bridgessi and peruvianus (best guess)

Thank you very much for putting my mind at ease! Apart from the obvious issues in the photos they seem quite happy so I will wait and see how they fare.

I've had that issue with trichs. The black spots have never been any trouble unless they are soft and oozing black goo. If they're just hard spots I don't think it's diseased, I think it's just normal scaring.
