These are unusual insects, that multiple people have never seen before and don't know a common name for. They are only on 1 kind of tree, and I've just noticed 2 trees of this kind losing leaves due to these creatures.

This is in Alabama, USA. What are they?

spaiders have always scared me, created a fierce physical reaction in me, but as I grow older the fear dissipates, to be replaced by respect. Still don't wanna be close to them, but I don't feel the need to run in terror.

that one is amazing! looks like he's got a Friday the 13th mask on it's back.

How synchronistic of you to post these pics of fluffy insects....was camping earlier this summer in southern ontario and saw a but just like this flying around my head.."WTF is this a fairy".."like an avatar bug?" lol.

I just found a bunch of these wooly aphids at a nearby nature preserve last week and was like WTF? Thanks for answering that question for me!

whoa, awesome spiked orb-weaver! I've never seen one like that, just came across a trippy marbled orb-weaver while hiking, you can see it in my thread... nice find! nature truly is wondrous.

I believe this little critter is called a Saddleback. Supposed to be pretty painful from what I understand.

Are you sure it's a spiderweb? I had seen this pic on the web some time ago, but the article then said scientists had no idea what it was... Have they found out in the meantime?
