Title says most of it.

Does anyone have any experience or info on brewing and consuming aya containing desmanthus illinoensis and passiflora incarnata?

I know, due to nens thread and some reports from fellow nexian hyperspace fool, that passiflora can be an effective maoi and potentiator, either orally or smoked.

So, desmanthus illinoensis and passiflora incarnata grow native to my area, making it an obvious and kinda cool choice for aya

Any info or tips??

I of course do not want to discourage experimentation....

but I wouldn't try the combo due to low and variable levels of dmt and MAOI in desmanthus and passiflora. Do you have any idea how muchg desmanthus to to consume to get a dosage of, say ~50mg of dmt? And how much passiflora would you need to get ~200mg of harmalas? (I'd guesstimate a few kilos of the latter to say the least!)

a few kilos? That's not what the people who have gotten it to work to activate DMT have said. I think nen used like 300g or something and said that less probly would have done it.

With 400g of passiflora incarnata (and 50-70mg acacia obtusifolia extract) nen888 and a friend got great affects

nen888 wrote:

...1996 p. inacarnata + acacia extract huasca experiment (an incarnata vaporized extract experiment is referred to in Voogelbreinder 2009)

"...approx. 1kg of purchased dry passiflora incarnata stem & leaf was boiled X3 in rain water...the large amount of liquid was combined and reduced over several hours, turning increasingly dark purple/brown and thick..,while still possible it was filtered several times through fine cheesecloth...a point of viscosity was reached at which 1 hypothesized dose (333grams of herb) equalled a large glass or coffee mug of thick liquid (the aromas during the process were noted to be somewhat mildly psychoactive)
...A dosage of estimated at = 400 grams herb was consumed by two subjects...5 minutes afterwards approx. 50-70mg of a. obtusifolia extract as the freebase was rapidly swallowed and chased with water/lemon juice (to remove the awful freebase aftertaste)
...Within 10 minutes strong sedative and 'anti-depressant' effects from the passiflora were felt...as these grew (without yet tryptamine effects) it was commented that this plant alone was a satisfying experience...A shiny and pleasant 'haze' surrounded lights...At around 90 minutes, after it was pondered that maybe MAO inhibition was not sufficient, tryptamine-like effects (geometries, '4D-ness', auditory) rapidly grew over 10 minutes accompanied by sudden purging...
...Both subjects found the intensity of colors beyond their previous experiments with a. extract and p. harmala or b. caapi...'fantastic bright blues, reds, purples and golden hues.'...It was subjectively judged as more sedative or narcotic than rue or caapi with a strong 'dreaminess'...rue was judged the 'clearest', caapi unique in other ways...
'It made the tryptamines very dreamy, colorful, and beautiful...very feminine.'
...After a linear 'plateau' of 30 minutes, effects gradually subsided over 2-4 hours, with a sense of sedation up to 5hrs afterwards. Overall, it was very positive...'It lacked the punch of rue, but had such a lovely dreamy quality...very sensual...'..."

I wonder if this acacia extract from nen was one of the more purified ones, or more crude one. We know how some acacia extracts for whatever weird reason have oral activity by themselves without added MAOI. I was wondering if this was one of the cases.

I can't seem to find any info on amounts of harmalas in passiflora incarnata, the source nen quotes here does not quantify it I think. Anybody knows?

I know that Hyperspace Fool has also gotten passiflora tea to activate oral DMT, not sure about the doses. However I seriously doubt you would need kilos of the stuff. From my experience with growing and consuming passiflora caerulea it only feels like a couple times weaker than caapi leaf when smoked. It is not hard for me to imagine that 400g of this passiflora might be as strong as 100g caapi, but I don't really know.. the effect would be somewhat different due to flavonoids interacting with the harmalas. You have to factor in the flavonoids when you talk about passiflora, not just how much harmalas you need.

I think passiflora has been pretty much ignored for too long.

i feel the same way about passionflower, jamie.

even if it does take kilos to effectivly inhibit mao, if one is growing passionflower, then they likely have many many kilos; so the mao inhibition with passionflower im not really concerned about.

however, i know almost nothing of illinoensis.

Passiflora i. grows wild around the southeast, and i have had what i think are MAOI effects from a couple ounces made into a tea. I want to make a crystal extract of the plant someday.

Anyone can find it online for about ~10$lb.

this is 100% doable with passionflower as the maoi. ive played with this on and off for a few years. but, ive never had any effect from desmanthus, never! the root stocks i used had been grown for two years plus and the effects were negligible, i tryed various stocks(5-9) to see if it was cultivar related, and not much activity. i dont think its worthwhile but i could be missing something. i almost never use it now. as for the passion flower, many, many, many grams of dry stems and mostly leaves of incarnata. the fruit has the highest concentrations but that slowes growth, if your growing, you may as well just cut the flowers to push vegetaton growth. just a taste at around 250g(dry), but unique. there is one more species with a higher b-carboline ratio but i dont use it much. i tend to stick with incarnata. it is 100% useable, you just have to use alot, i mean alot. not the 2 or 3 feet is saw posted somewhere on the forum. a good lb to kilo(dry) is a good 'starting' range. and really isnt very hard to find or grow. if you look hard enough, or if you grow, it is worthwhile and easy to produce. on that note though, caapi leaves are twice the maoi of the caapi vine(most of the time) and a good healthy caapi plant produces alot of leaves, 50g dry leaves and you are starting in a good place, depending on your cultivar. but passionflower has a character on its own, its just vile as you use more material, and you have to use more material. nothing wrong with vileness, its just you want to extract first, and reduce. a good tech on this would prove very beneficial. Thumbs up it can be done, just work with it some more!

great info, thanks for sharing Smile

maybe a passiflora resin capped up would be useful?
