A somewhat less-experienced friend asked me today: "so, what's the most powerful drug in the world?"

My first instinct was to say LSD or lofentanil (an opiate analgesic analogue of fentanyl), since they are active at the lowest doses.
However, pharmacokinetic activity is just one aspect of 'powerful.'

Getting blissed out on fentanyl probably isn't nearly as radically earth-shattering as dosing up with 5-MEO-DMT or Salvia.

So, understanding that it is an impossible metric to objectively rate drugs on: what do you think the most powerful drug in the world is? What is the best definition of 'powerful,' anyway?

I believe its difficult to decide which drug is the "strongest" based solely on what class of drug it is ur experiencing. Opiate highs are not comparable to DMT highs IMO because one is psychedelic and one is straight euphoria. Apples and oranges. To say fentanyl is the strongest opiate compared to say...heroin would be a better basis for comparison I think. Especially considering opiates are highly addictive physically and psychologically whereas psychedelics can be addictive mentally...I guess lol.

Difficult question, subjectively, I`d say Ketamine and DMT.
I have tried many different psychoactive substances (2c-x's, LSD, DOB, Mushrooms, Ketamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Nitrous, MDMA etc) and find none as earth shattering as the aforementioned. Having said that, they are near polar opposites in the realities they take you to.
imo, potency should not come into the equation.

I'd have to say the electro-chemical cocktail that gives rise to this thing we call life.

Chemical potency ill rather leave for the experts,but theres alot of aspects that could branch out of a question like this

psychoactive dose size,effeciency,and experience power.


To me id say number 1 would be DMT for a variety of reasons,heard people who doesnt really apply moderation to the other powerful substances out there say they take it easy with DMT its a really heavy experience they want to be ready for,and in many of my circles its spoken of as the king of them all.The fact of how effectively it works with our body and brain also have it in high regards from my behalf.

2.DXM,its strenght is immense and a chemical masterpiece espescially how it likes darkness,its hard on the psyche and it takes you far from home,but i do bear in mind how ever it is properly active in quite high doses compared to others but onmy personal list this one is very strong and great.

3.Datura/Brugmansia this needs no explanation

fentanyl isn't an opiate (etorphine is). its derivative,carfentanil, is more potent than LSD.
potency and power aren't necessarily the same, especially when talking about experiences.
bromo-lsd is quite potent, but its central activity isn't directed toward the familiar receptor systems
associated with psychedelics.
most powerful seems like a subjective observation.

The most powerful is that which you choose! The ground breaking experience comes from within, not the drug on its own.

I can only speak to my laundry list of substances, alcohol, MJ, LSD, Shrooms, Meth, Cocaine, NO2, Special K, Silvia, MDMA, MDA, Opiates and DMT. All of which can be "Powerful" in their own way, we can all agree on that.. I too had a long battle with opiates, a battle of more than 8 years of spiraling hell! So I understand. That aspect of "Power". Fortunately I was able to put that behind me as of 4 years.. and for that matter, I only drink moderately, smoke a little MJ now and then and DMT. Which brings me to the winner of the most powerful drug award...

Nothing has given me as much contemplation, awe and wonder like DMT. Experiencally, I find it in a class of its own, incomparable to any other experience I've had. It is utterly Magical, and I can't say that for any other drug I've experienced. So my measure of power is just that, EXPERIENCE. And for THAT, DMT takes the cake by a long shot.

I was just reading another thread about Salvinorin B ethoxyethyl ether(Symmetry) and it just might be, in terms of potency, just about the "strongest" drug in the world; Psychoactive from doses of 10 to 50 µg!

If we measure the power of a drug by the effect it has on society, then my answer would be sugar. Closely followed by alcohol and nicotine.

I think the most powerful psychedelic is DMT, though it is certainly not the most potent. I think to get to the point of a breakthrough experience with DMT, you can be still relatively intact in your mind, whereas to reach that point on LSD or psilocin you are sort of a goofy mess by that point. So for that reason I would say DMT has the most influence me because of how far it can take you without getting really messy, hence more powerful in that respect. Just my 2 cents, the word power here is open to interpretation.

Second, I thought "actually why not? It actually hasn´t been answered before...", as we haven´t defined what "powerful" means in thjis question.

I personally know people whose lives have been turned upside down by methamphetamine... they would probably assert that meth has been "the most powerful drug in the world" (they would smile if I mentioned psychedelics. I mean seriously!). I also know people who would probably claim that it was actually Cocaine that changed their lives...

"The Most Powerful Drug In The World"? DMT or psilocybin, for me, I think. (But let´s not mask the fact that we are "Nexians", who tend to have have special propensity towards DMT...)

I kind of like this, whatever the most "powerful" drug is, would you kill for it?

I completely agree with this statement. Opiates altered my life radically and getting over the addiction has completely changed me for the better.

I'd say dmt is the strongest drug for me though. I've never had experiences like i have with this substance.
