Hell y'all. Been sitting on this catalog from 'SS' for over a year and made a long complicated list of mostly varieties Swim knows very little about. Before placing this order he was wondering if some of the more experienced collectors here can make some recommendations. He likes different shapes and flower colors, but is not into any of the 'pacha-not' strains (yet).

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Reason I am asking is not because Im lazy it's because I lost the above mentioned catalog and have no way of referencing the list I made a year ago.
So let me rephrase this question:
Swim is looking for recommendations of known potent Trichocerus Hybrid plants. Swim has some San Pedros and some Bridgesii and would like to expand his collection. He also likes beautiful and interesting looking plants.

Anyone tried one of these below?

Trichocereus glaucus

Trichocereus huanucoensis

Trichocereus peruvianus “Los Gentiles” “Pichu”

Trichocereus peruvianus v. cuzcoensis (=Trichocereus cuzcoensis)
Trichocereus randallii RCB363
Trichocereus terscheckii ”Cardon Grande”

Trichocereus tulhuayacensis KK337 (B13
Trichocereus sp. BK09509.2

Trichocereus sp. Torres & Torres

Online Trichocereus Hybrids
Trichocereus andalgalensis X Trichocereus grandiflorus v. crassicaulis

Trichocereus grandiflorus X Trichocereus orurensis
Trichocereus peruvianus “Serra Blue” X Trichocereus huanucoensis

Trichocereus tulhuayacensis KK337 (B13) X T.Trichocereus bridgesiii
Trichocereus “Daemonomania” X Trichocereus “Dusty Rose”
Trichocereus sp. “Luther Burbank” X Trichocereus
Trichocereus sp. “Kimura’s Giant” X Trichocereus
Trichocereus sp. SS02 X Trichocereus peruvianus “Serra Blue”

Trichocereus sp. SS02 X Trichocereus sp. “Kimura’s Spiny Giant”

Their website tells all. Personally I think most of those would be a wonderful addition to my collection, which is why a I ordered a big variety.

I think it is difficult to say which plant will or will not be potent as each seed grown plant can vary quite a bit in its alkaloidial make up. If you are looking for certain named clones to propagate I could recommend places to look.

Another issue is that all the research that has been done regarding potency seems to be full of misleading information. This is why propagating known clones is helpful.

It would seem that the only real way of knowing would be to start the seeds, grow them for some 3 to 5 years and then bioassay each plant and weed em out from there.

I'm all for branching out into the world of Trichocereus and look forward to doing exactly this along the way. Cuttings are a great way to start, but I feel starting from seed shall be even more rewarding!

The simplest reply. To your question, is any of the named crosses, such as the ss01-04xt.spp Luther burbank x
Kimuras spiny giant x, the Torres y Torres, Juuls Giant etc etc...

Sweet, thanks EZ that was very helpful.
I would like to order them all but I feel overwhelmed with such a project at this time. Besides, there is plenty to bioassay already Smile
I'll keep my eye on them crosses for now and I would also love to hear about the places that have 'certain named clones' good for for propagation.

much obliged
