Yesterday my friend went for the usual eyeballed 50mg dose and he had an interesting trip.
Everything he saw was incredibly frightening, the trip was filled with visions of these figures of creepy witch like beings and faces, or girls suddenly turning and facing him, that resembled the girl from the ring and such movies.
It seemed as if the DMT was trying to scare my friend as much as possible, my friend wasn't actually scared because he realized how ridiculous it seemed and began laughing uncontrollably.
It was definitely a strange experience and he's still wondering why everything he saw seemed to be trying to scare him.
During the week he'd been trying to let his friends experience DMT, and they experienced almost no psychedelic effect at all, and my friend has no idea why.
This was his first trip since trying his friends on it.

Has anyone had a trip like this?
Any ideas why it happens?
My friend was very positive before doing it, and he's not put off by it at all.
Just felt the need to write about it because it seemed so strange, even for the DMT world.

The spice sometimes has a mind of its own. The 'spirit' that dwells within it. I have had very unfriendly experiences, evil faces, telepathic threats, etc. The spice shows you who you are, all the deepest recesses of your mind. Imagine the spice peeling your mind like the layers of an onion, getting closer to the core each time. Eventually, everyone has a strange or 'scary' experience. It is just that layer getting peeled off. Keep going.

In a book I once read the wise man asked his apprentice to peel the layers of the onion he had given him. Once there were no layers left and his hands were empty, he asked his apprentice what was left? The apprentice shook his head, bewildered. The wise man answered,"The universe."

maybe the spice was trying to send a message to you not to be so indiscriminate about which friends you share it with. SWIM once received this a message (in a more positive way though) and has since been more discerning in spreading the "word". The enthusiasm is still there but SWIM trys to keep more of a "lid on it" and shares only when appropriate, i.e. when someone seems like a good fit.

Yeah, there is a general consensus here that selling it is a bad thing to do, but how about giving it away? I also have big reserves about that. It's quite a responsibility to grant access to these incredible realms to others. If something goes wrong (however small the chance), who gets the blame... I would only consider a few people I've known very well.

Tolu, good thing your friend didn't get scared! The effects can vary so wildly, good chance your friends's next experience will be total bliss. I think this kind of horror-trip is pretty rare. Who knows it's a kind of test, entry to the next level if passed?

Without trying to sound too elitist, be careful who you give psycadelics to in general. not everyone is able to handle them appropriately and the blame always comes back to the person supplying, not the person ingesting.

I am certifiably insane, as such all posts written by me should be regarded as utter nonsense or attempts to get attention.

I don't know SWIM and personally don't trust him at all. If SWIM is posting, most likely I will not respond...as I said, I don't trust the guy. YOU I trust, but never SWIM.

The power of dmt is unreal. Keep that in mind. As I said, with smaller doses, one probably will be able to control it. 70 mg and higher = hell no you can't control it!

However, swim finds that those large doses are the ones you live for.

Yes, it's probably the most incredible thing a human can experience, but not everybody needs 70 mg to reach that state! There are so many variables, and sensitivity seems to be one of them. Smoking technique, genetics, psychological barriers (fear!), set & setting... and not to forget: the entities' mood of the day Pleased

putting dmt spirits and entities aside for the moment, I think most of us enjoy a certain kind of fear from time to time,
which is why rollercoasters are fun, and what s8championjgh said about the big experiences being terrifying but glorious...
One time I came down and wondered round and round the room saying nothing but that over and over again for ages..."What the FUCK?!" hehe

Fear has got to be a huge part of the unconscious, and it doesn't matter what lifestyle you lead, if you were born human basic elements with biological and evolutionary advantages are hardwired in there for good. If it were me, I would guess that maybe unconsciously I desired an element of fear from the experience, because I've learnt to associate that fear with the most mind blowing and wonderful and indescribable experiences. Maybe the dmt hooked into that seed, however small, and ran with it...

I mean, if the dmt was really trying to scare you as much as possible, I think it could have turned you into a shivering wreck, and not with images of girls suddenly turning and facing you [I can see how that would be hilarious].
Onwards and upwards

The ego is the 'thing' that gets scared - an onion or a dmt-inflating balloon, all those defined limits and layers, painful to let go of fears and clingy thoughts of 'self-as-an-ego' that categorize and contain grasp one last time, as the baloon expands so big it pops into Hyperspace ... Do you get 'stuck' in the scary visions ..?

It's laughable sometimes how something attempts to 'scare' - you are scaring yourself ..!? But I have found you can Love your way our of a scary vision - it really works, just shoot out Love-beams, waves of compassion, for each ugly thing - let it be beautiful in it's own mutant-ugly way, and you'll rise-up out of that ugly realm. I have beamed Love right back at those 'attempts to scare' ... as though there was an intelligence trying to show me the most gruesome things, so I could just love each ugly, 'failed' creation. It seemed so easy to do " oooh you're a good one- really mutant, but I LOVE you !"... Maybe it's all a test to see how 'thick' the ego's skin is - it's a test to shed all inhibitions with unconditional love. Love burns through the opaque layers of the ego from the inside out!. Laugh compassionately, and claim it with Love.

E! you reflect my attitude exactly. the couple of brief times SWIM's experienced a slight crunching of the nuts he made an instant decision to just meet all with love and compassion and, though the mutant funkiness didn't stop manifesting, it DID stop being even remotely frightening.
a DEEP GIFT swim would like to share with his family:
it's so interesting to SWIM at this point when he's had quite a few (around 100) journeys now and even in the DEEPEST breakthroughs (usually with the addition of THH), there is still a sense of self. not the ego-self that we identify with constantly in THIS world....but the TRUE GOD-SELF if you will. the self that WATCHES the self in this world. the "over-mind". it is SWIM's deepest belief that it is the mind we attempt to connect to during meditation. the individual facet of the infinite-sided gem of universal consciousness.

i mention this because when SWIM became aware that THIS self was NEVER lost. NO MATTER HOW MASSIVE THE DOSE/BREAKTHROUGH/DISCONNECT WITH THE EGO, that true self only shone brighter.....it is god and you are a part of it. that is a free, fearless epiphany when it comes to a swimmer. truly. it is the palpable, unequivocal realization that we ARE a unique reflection of god's love....and to see that and know that is like being told that you CAN have your cake and eat it to. you truly ARE......eternal...

..or as a beautiful Buddhist teach Pema Chodron puts it:

"it is only through the subjecting ourselves to "continual annihilation that we discover that part of ourselves that cannot be destroyed."

for SWIM, he cannot imagine a more complete or profound way to "subject himself to annihilation" than by imbibing the sacred spice.

this was a huge gift given to SWIM a few months back on a real deep spelunk into hyperspace. may it touch and inspire... Smile

LOVE AND GRATITUDE!!

wisdom today."
