Hello DMT-Nexus!

I have been doing a lot of digging and searching on rock salt and the best salt to use in extractions, and I have come to the conclusion that the salt that I have purchased, is indeed the best to use for this application. I just wanted to double check with some experts here on the Nexus to ensure that this would not mess up my process. IF this is indeed the case, I can always give these salts to my girlfriend, for baths, and then go get some pickling/canning salt.

Well then, on to the pictures!
Thanks again. Smile

Rock Salt-
The main ingredient of rock salt is sodium chloride, though it often occurs with some impurities, usually salts of calcium or magnesium. Pure rock salt is white, though impurities can render it gray, yellow, orange, red, blue, violet or pink. It is extremely soluble in water, and is also hygroscopic, absorbing water molecules from the surrounding air.

NaCl is all that you really need...salt is just...salt. Cheap table salt is essentially the same thing, purified and ground up.
Any additives or minerals may, or may not affect the chemical composition of the base mix...if it does it will surely be so minimal as to be negligible.

What you have should be fine to use...dissolved in hot water.

Thanks cyb!

I have heard NOT to use ionized salt, and that is what I was forced to use for my first 3 extractions. (they went sub-par, just wanted to see if this would work better!)
So I will try this.

Thanks again!

It's the iodized (with a d) that you should stay away from. I have no idea if the added iodine would be harmful if it crossed the non polar barrier and wound up being vaped.

You should be fine with 'The Rock' Smile

I have found out that almost all of the salts here contain anti clumping additives to make it not form clusters and stay as small particles.
Has this any effect on extractions?
ItÅ› really hard to find one without it.
Only the gourmet rock or sea salts comes without this and they are very pricey.

Growing active and sacred plants and mushrooms is fun.
Chemistry and technology is fun.
Anger, violence and restricting rules are NO fun...

Anticaking agents are fine. They don't affect anything.
Just use the cheap stuff from the supermarket.
