While I'm very interested in trying DMT for its spiritual potential, I've never tried it (or any other substance for that matter). I don't have the connections, neither any chemistry knowledge (or the guts to use Tor). However, last night I had a very interesting "meta" experience, via a dream. I guess you could call it my first experience with DMT... in a way.

So basically, I dreamt of Alex Grey! He was visiting town. We got introduced, I helped him out with some online work, and so he offered DMT. I couldn't be more happy to try it! He also offered me his own vap Machine to smoke it, his invention (looked like a pen). As I took the first hit, I noted how the smoke didn't make me cough (since I don't really know how to smoke properly). "You should really patent this, so gentle!", I told him, before I lost sight of him.

The scenery changed. I was seeing all black. Suddenly, there was a donut-like spiral on my right. I realized that this was the "vortex" that I had to go into in order to reach another dimensions. I didn't see any complex or magnificent visuals, just this donut-style vortex. But here's where it got freaky.

I couldn't enter it. I tried with all my might to go closer and enter the vortex, but something was telling me "NO". Something was communicating telepathically to me a big, resounding "NO". It was like my mind was trying to tell me that I'm not allowed to do this.

I screamed, "it won't let me in, I can't get in". That was when the second hit came, and suddenly found myself in a marshland. I was knee-deep in water. There was no solid ground to walk on, so I decided to create some. I started vividly thinking that I needed some solid ground to walk on, and poof! I created patches of them with my mind, one by one.

After walking around for a while, I started thinking to myself, "what the heck am I doing in this mud? I want to see the Universe!". As I started flying up, just before I leave the atmosphere, I was back from the (meta) trip.

I wasn't very happy, because I didn't break-through, but I did thank Alex with all my heart for the experience. We snapped a pic together (he seemed so incredibly tall to me), and then he left. Very soon afterwards, I was awake.

That was a really weird dream. I don't get such types of dreams, you see. I've never done "drugs" in a dream (or awake), so it all surprised me. I don't know why I dreamt of Grey either. I mean, sure, I recently backed his Kickstarter project, but other than that, I don't know the man. Finally, not being able to enter the vortex made me think what's up with that. I wonder if the DMT released when we dream has safeguards to not break-through to other worlds, and it won't let you do it even when you "simulate" DMT inside the dream itself. If that's the case, why the safeguards at all? Why are we trapped here, in this dimension, unless we force the matter with psychedelics?

Well, theres lots of ways to 'force the matter' and enter profoundly altered states of consciousness. Psychedelics are just the most reliable and immediate path to novel territory

And while there isn't any conclusive peer reviewed data showing dmt is involved in dreaming, i do find it cool that you had a dmt trip in a dream before actually trying it. Mostly because i too had smoked dmt in a dream before doing it in real life, and in the dream it was exactly like it is for me now. There was all of these other impossibly synchronistic aspects of that story but i wont go into it here

Don't be so intimidated my friend! Many of us started off feeling the same way, but extracting or brewing things like ayahuasca are actually incredibly easy. Just spend some time reading teks on the wiki and forum. Its far easier than people who haven't done it assume. Its also very easy to start growing (or hunting) things like mushrooms, cacti, etc

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

Maybe Alex is doing this for everyone who backed the kickstarter campaign. It' not officially listed as a reward, but anyone who donates more than x amount of money gets a special visit from Alex, in dreams. And he doses you.

I appreciate your perspective.

Doodazzle that made me Laughing
I might have to donate to find out.

Handle, do you plan on trying DMT in the future?
I have to agree with UC here, to not be intimated by the process. Its not as hard as one may think.

What you had seems like a lucid dream to me, and even if you think it was Psychedelic in nature, it you have no actual
Psychedelic experiences to compare it to. That can be tricky.
Still a very cool dream none the less.Thumbs up

I have lucid dreams quite often, and so far none have been able to compare to the full force that is DMT.
Good luck to you!

I don't think so, it's risky, and I have no contacts about it. I've taken the meditation route. I bought a book that claims that its meditation technique can transport you to other realms (rather than just relax you). I searched on Amazon for Yogi-specific meditations that do that, and that book seemed to be the only one that promises this. Apparently, the meditation techniques that the Yogi/Buddhists let go to the West, were all for relaxation. The ones that did all the interesting things, they kept secret. So it's difficult to find these techniques. We'll see, I'll be starting soon, and I can update here if I have a breakthrough.

I already follow a diet and take supplements to de-calcify my pineal gland.

On top of that, the other night I saw another dream, where a friend was feeling ill from binging into many different drugs, and I offered to throw away his stash to the garbage bin. While standing next to the garbage bin, I realized that one of these were an Ayahuasca plant root. I thought "what if I just keep that for myself?". Suddenly, a female figure appeared in front of me out of nowhere, and she slapped me very hard on my face, before she disappeared just as fast as she appeared. I was dumbfounded in my own dream. I recognized her to be Mother Ayahuasca, I knew it immediately. So I don't know if that's one more crazy dream of mine, or if someone is trying to tell me something...

"de-calcify my pineal gland" Wink

Please give DMT a try first, before trusting in a romantic psychedelic urban legend. I have never found my dreams to resemble DMT, though YMMV. I'd find myself more accepting of your experiences if you had something to compare it to. Vivid dreams on the other hand, are rad and nothing to be unhappy about. I just feel you're too quick to approximate them with DMT.

The process isn't horribly difficult to learn and perform on your own, so lack of friends with DMT experience ought not be a barrier to proper exploration

The dreams are just dreams. I didn't compare them with a real DMT experience. Instead, I mentioned that I'm going the meditation route. With meditation, you CAN visit the various realms that psychedelic drugs can offer. It takes more time, and a certain technique, but it's possible. I've also talked to Dr Strassman about the meditation route btw and he agreed that it can be done.

In my experience no amount of meditation can ever take you to a place as profound as DMT. I highly doubt it even with the 'milder' psychedelics. You should try and at least experience both first.

I'm sorry, it's just not possible for me to buy/extract DMT. There are too many reasons for this that I won't get into here. It is simply not going to happen. Otherwise, I wouldn't be busting my a$$ with meditation. I'm ok with this, I've accepted this fate.

At some point in your life, tomorrow or 50 years from now...

Perhaps you will have the opportunity to try DMT. It will come to you... Pleased
