Hi

I read this on Trauma and DMT and am now quite interested

Quote:
Strassman mentions the great potential for psychedelic-assisted therapy, not only in the area of problem solving but also in what he terms "structured voluntary traumatic experience." i.e. in a safe and supportive environment people could use DMT to "promote absolute loss of control", so as to contact, and permanently let go of, painful emotions. One young female volunteer was actually able to do this. In a moving account she describes how, during the DMT sessions, she was helped by "presences" - "DMT elves", to release the trauma of childhood neglect and rape . "I feel like I have a new body" she said, one month after her healing experience. (p.171)

This dose the she got, since she was healed by elves, it must have been a breakthrough dose.

I'm thinking on giving it a go. I'm a bit hesitant though. I don't really feel like using DMT right now, but it could be what i need...

What do I want with this thread? Well, if you got any other info on trauma and DMT please post it, you may have some from "DMT: The spirit molecule" or somewhere else, or maybe just ideas and thoughts Smile

Also, because I feel a bit hesitant, I could use some reassurance lol Love

I'm thinking on doing it in dim light, and quiet. Music might remove me from where I need to be I'm thinking. Other than that, it's just to try and let go

What do you all think?

everyone reacts differently to psychadelics , how one person might benefit says nothing of the other

yet personally i have had great success with healing fatigue , amphetamine psychosis , and unnecessary fear

i have reaped great rewards in other areas aswell , and yes a healing dose is a breakthrough dose

As Jin said above me: everyone reacts differently to psychedelics, and sometimes it can be much more damaging then healing (I seem to recall reading about a member that appeared to have a nervous breakdown? Did I just dream that). On the other hand, I can tell you from personal accounts that psychedelic experiences can be some of the most amazingly beautiful and healing experiences imaginable as well.

It's really a question of what you feel comfortable with, and I'm not a shaman, but most of the really positive and healing experiences I've seen happen when the traveler felt in some instinctive way that 'the time is right.'

If you are looking for help, I would suggest brewing up some Ayahuasca, or taking part in a traditional ceremony if you're able to. The 10 minute wam-bam experience of vaped DMT is so extreme and overwhelming that you may go and come back simply thinking: "woah, that was cool. What was it?"
Ayahuasca allows you some time to really explore the psychedelic head-space and take in the things that the molecule is showing you, instead of having it all dropped into your consciousness at once.

This is just my two cents, again, I'm not a shaman, or even the most experienced traveler here. This is my experiences.

I hope you you get where you want to go, however you choose to get there Smile

Lots of love

An improvement that's still there 1 month after the experiment is hardly proof of permanently letting go of the painful emotions. For all we know, she may be institutionalized by now.

With that said, there are quite a few threads on mental illness and psychedelics, with the same advice being given over and over: you just can't know how it will affect you. However, in my opinion there's a good chance that while the impact may go either way, it won't last.

As mentioned above, it works different with everybody.
I have read several Experience reports, articles, health and safety, and I have practiced in one way. Now everybody has different events, thoughts, and perceptions in the mind inwhich is unpredictable.
Knowing "the right time" for DMT is hard to understand and even if somebody were to put the dots together and find it as the time for the(if there is one, not for everybody) it still would have several variables to look for safety and mindset. We all can get the jitters or feel nervous even some of us that have been practicing for a while.
A lot of people who are worries about it from the start, are usually worried about the journey itself, not what will happen after and neither are predictable. If you have read through all of the FAQ and the Health and Safety can give a little information on why you may not want to do it, or at least not at this moment.
It all comes down to you as to what you choose. There is not garuntee of enlightenment, healing, hypertraveling, or looking into ones "innerself".

Also now this is just from my idea for people new to this, anybody new should not do high or "breakthrough" doses. Start small. It doesnt hurt to have a mild understanding of psycadelics with a minor experience instead of rushing in for crash coarses.
I am not sure if this will help, but good luck
Good luck and as always Happy Travels

Hi, thank you all for replying

Nathanial.Dread: It does seem as DMT smoked is quite benign. Not so many getting increased anxiety or other mental illnesses.

I will try and use my intuition, hopefully it will dawn upon me when time is right.

Thanks Smile

Tango: 1 month would be nice, to say the least. But yeah, I've thought about that too

MusicTurtle: Okay, I'll check out the FAQ and H&S. No guarantees. But if there is a chance... As long as it doesn't backfire

Jin: Interesting. also with smoked DMT?
Would you care to elaborate?

Many thanks

I would just say that there is alot to be gained from
Just plain ayahuasca tea without even adding the
Dmt component . I suggest starting there to see where
That takes you .

I've had good success in mood lifting and getting
Unstuck using this method . While its not the fireworks
Show and total loss of body etc . It's still a great place to start
Especially with apprehension regarding dmt .
