Hello all! I recently had my first experience with ayahuasca and to say the least, it was visionary. Not pleasant, mind you, but I was able to make the first step towards what I believe will help cure my depression and creativity difficulties. I know I messed up the first time, I know I didn't treat it with enough respect and that's something I aim to fix. In the meantime, I want to begin planning my next experience. I have been reading up on the shamanic ceremonies and familiarizing myself with all aspects of the experience.

Recently, I've begun to think about ayahuasca variants. Obviously, there's the traditional brew of ayahuasca vine and chacruna, but then there's also acacia confusa, mimosa hostilis, syrian rue, etc. What I am wondering is, would using chaliponga introduce 5-MeO-DMT to the equation? If so, how would that change the trip and if so, is it worth it if confronting specific problems? Similarly, does using acacia confusa (which is supposed to have a decent amount of NMT in addition to the DMT) alter the trip in any way?

I would be very thankful for any responses, especially if you have any anecdotes about different effects. I really want to know if that 5-MeO-DMT would be beneficial.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

..every plant teacher is different, so even two solely DMT containing plants are different in character..

it is not clear that there is any 5meo in challiponga, but it would only be a trace if its there..
however it is considered quite different to chacruna in characteristics..

5meoDMT is usually NOT RECOMMENDED in combination with MAOIs..it can easily lead to overdose, and there are a few reports of 2-3week induced 'episodes' and serious physical complications (heart rate etc.) with 5meo+harmalas..

..the NMT in A. confusa does make a difference, a positive one IMO..
it 'does more' than a mere DMT containing plant..is more 'physical' and can last longer..

Sorry, I thought I had read that chaliponga contained 5-MeO-DMT, but doing more research led me to sources that say tests showed only the presence of DMT.

Thank you for the tip. I had not known that and am glad you mentioned it. Not that I would have blindly gone along, but you save me the trouble of doing more research for that particular goal.

That is good to hear, I am interested in learning more about that and will look it up.

What about, say, using prepared yopo snuff in the brew? Would the 5-OH-DMT go into the brew? Would it be a good combination or would it cause trouble like 5-MeO-DMT?

Whatever it does: I like it. Are there any sorts of experiences that are unique to NMT, such as how traditional Aya can cause hallucinations of a "blue lady?"

I'm not sure, but I have heard people say that NMT creates more spatial distortion. What recently came into my mind is how about adding small doses of datura to the brew? Something like 1 flower? I don't know datura dosage, but if you could have a tiny amount to cause some tiny delirium, maybe. I wonder if an experience like that would remove you more from reality, I know that the farther away I am the better I can think.

In what way didn't you treat it with enough respect?

I don't think 5-MeO-DMT has any more therapeutic potential than ordinary DMT, although it may be able to help a person to cope with ego-death more easily, I guess. I've tried chaliponga (which some argue does contain traces of 5-MeO, while others disagree, and others still are unsure/agnostic) and mimosa hostilis (which everyone agrees lacks it), and while the experiences do differ, I don't think it differed to a profound degree, or felt like something other than DMT. As they argue in this thread, chaliponga might have a more psychological effect, and who knows, that might be due to the potentially tiny trace amounts of 5-MeO-DMT. The first time I tried chaliponga, before any of the visuals kicked in, my ego was grinded into what felt like an underground environment, pulled downwards, tugged at and worked through with, something that has never happen with mimosa. But that could just have been that particular journey, and not due to the substance per se.

I don't think chaliponga is to be feared (but start with less than 5g your first time, to feel your way forward). However, in my experience, the plants will work with you when they deem you ready. It may not be instantly, and likewise, it may not even be a matter of which specific plants.

Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, obviously. I'm just one guy, and I too am just a beginner with this stuff Pleased
"As my soul left my body, I found myself floating in a swirling ocean of multi-colored light. At the end, I could see and feel an even brighter light pulling me toward it, and as it shined on me, I felt indescribable happiness. I remembered everything about eternity - knowing, that we had always existed, and that all of us are family. Then old friends and loved ones surrounded me, and I knew without a doubt I was home, and that I was so loved." - Christian Andréason

Dude, that blonde girl is a total DMT/10.
