I commenced to taking another couple tokes after I had floated down from a breakthrough, it felt right and bathed me in love and strong presence. But until about an hour later I had these continuing repeating visuals. It's hard to describe, this is the best I can do.

Imagine the transparent frames of objects in the room spiraling in and snapping into place. I could see what was actually in my room, but saw these waves that would take the shape of whatever I was looking at, and spiral them forward until they were alas in their right spot. Like a spin and heavy hitting jolt, every 10 seconds or so. If anybody uses electric sheep, there are frames quite similar to what I saw, a slow creep then sudden jolt.

Anyway what interests me is why the visuals lasted for such a long period. Usually I'm back at square one within 20 minutes max, usually 10-15. My mindstate was normal (well, I had just smoked DMT so I was blown away, but the mental effects of the chemical were gone) and I just sat and observed for a while in wonder for 50-60 minutes.

I experienced this as well, after taking repeated tokes after a breakthrough. Not the exact electric sheep-esque visuals you're describing, but the effects lingered for much longer than I was accustomed to.

After about half an hour I got up to get a drink and take a pee, my usual post-flight routine. When I got to the bathroom, I realized my visuals were still very strong and I found it hard to get a glass of water and gulp it down. It lasted for almost an hour after the last toke I took.

I had a similar experience with mushrooms a while ago. I was mentally back to normal, after about 6 hours from ingestion, but my vision would change. It came in strong waves, and the best I can describe it was taking what I was seeing and turning it into tiles, like a mosaic. It wasn't squares, but very sharp and angular.

It was pretty unnerving, and the first time I was really afraid I had broken myself for ever!
Since it wasn't permanent, it made any future feelings like this less scary.

I am not sure what causes it, but I kind of chock it up to "mental inertia". When you get the brain flowing in a certain way, especially in such a profound way as DMT, sometimes it just keeps going for a while.

I've had similar things, especially when i smoke harmala-heavy changa. Sometimes i'm still tripping pretty good 50 minutes later. I think this is probably not all that uncommon

Me too; harmala heavy changa does have pretty good legs.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

recently i also witnessed something similar , yet not exactly the same , i loaded a sub-breakthrough dose , inhaled it in onehhit , for 5 mins i was tripping and then back

at this point i felt i needed to breathe some smoke so i took out two cannabis joints which i had pre-rolled for this occasion , i smoke the full first joint not feeling anything much from it thus without any gap i took the second joint and smoked it too

after smoking both the joints i decided it was time to relax and lie down , i started to fall asleep , relaxing for a few mins i started to notice my tinnitus becoming louder and louder , i could see no visuals , just the tinitus sound becoming louder and louder , i thought the carrier wave is coming back yet there were no visuals , all of this subsided in a few minutes as soon as i went to the fridge grabbed some cola and drank it while munching on food ,

its just weird , i blamed it on cannabis and returned to my usual activities , all this went on for 10-15 mins after smoking the two joints until i put some food into my stomach , interesting yet un-nerving
illusions !, there are no illusions
there is only that which is the truth

Having a long and heavy afterglow isn't all too uncommon. It's also theorized that DMT may be stored in the serotonin vessicles for up to a week after administration (as this was the case for rabbits anyway).

I thought it was maybe something to do with my age when i started getting hour long trips on freebase vaped dmt. As if my metabolism wasn't as fast at kicking the dmt out making me trip long time Smile

Cool to hear all the interesting tales, I've not prepared changa before, I understand the concept but need to learn more. Seems enjoyable lol.

The only other experience I've had of this nature is quick millisecond flashes of de ja vu of DMT images and feelings. They happen so fast and then I cannot recall what it was after its over, but while it happens I know the feeling of experiencing it before. This has happened several occasions since I've went through a few of my full legendary breakthroughs. Not complaining at all, just one of those things that make you say hmm, well lol

The deja vu is always mind blowing to me, especially with salvia, mushrooms, or aya the first few times i took them and during deep experiences

Theres been lots of discussion about "flashbacks" and "sober tripping" here as well. After working with psychedelics a lot over the years, many of us find altered states progressively easier to tap into without taking anything, especially if you intentionally work at it. After a bit of relaxed focusing while staring (especially in a mirror, or at another person), for some reason i find myself in a state that is almost identical to a lower end dose of dmt and harmalas. Sometimes it just happens spontaneously

I saw a UFO de-cloak itself high above me long after DMT effects wore off, briefly, then re-cloak itself. It wasn't a light in the sky, it was a starship with detail, eyes open. But, as I had smoked DMT that day, I cannot say for sure that the UFO wasn't merely aftereffects . . . Though I have seen another UFO long ago, long before I touched any substance, so who knows . . . .
Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.

Last I went on a journey was years ago... Still get visuals to this day. Primarily in dreams/hypnagogia & meditation. But sometimes the elves jump out of the fabric during waking daylight. It seems that a lot of exploration carved its conduits into one's neural pathways, leaving those pathways primed for any fitting stimulus. The result being that a variety of techniques (especially DEEP breathing for 10 mins) can bring you right back into hyperspace without a hyperspace ticket!

Generally I noticed that for up to two weeks after an experience, it would jump out every now and then. The stored spice hypothesis seems like a good avenue of exploration. It would also go a long way towards explaining the 'afterglow', a phenomenon which simply might be analogous to having sub-threshold dose spice on IV drip Big grin
