Hi All,
I am trying to work out how this happened, but I believe the DMT I had has oxidised.
I originally got pure white spice from a friend, which was great, tried it numerous times.
When my supply lowered to 0.5g, I got another 0.5g from my friend, from the same batch as the other.
It looked yellow this time, and had bits of yellow through it.
When i got home, I performed a rextal, but simply evaporated instead of freezer precip.
I figured it would be an easy quick way to purify a bit, without waiting on the freezer.
I evaporated with the help of a blowing fan.
This resulted in yellow sort of wax, that cut up into small tiny pieces.
I tried this, and the effects are subjectively different.
My wall turns a bright yellow, normally a cream colour...and objects take on a very cartoonish appearance, and the effects are significantly different.
Do people believe DMT oxide would be the cause?
I can't think what else it could be.

I plan to keep a bit to Oxidise further (if possible), and try a zinc reduction back to DMT freebase on the remainder.
Does anyone have any experience with smoking DMT Oxide?
Would love to hear their subjective experiences and comparisons with DMT?
I believe having a specific mix of the 2 could be great, but this feels so different that I believe it's largely DMT Oxide.

Thanks Smile

My opinion is that the yellow goo is mostly impurities like plants oils/lypids. Also, i think that dmt needs lots of time to become oxide. A friend of mine keeps a few year old 1cm dmt crystal, and even though the color changed dramaticaly, from white transparent to almost orange, the consistency never became oily or waxy like you describe. So to become goo or an oily oxide i think it would need at least few more years.

Dmt is subjectively different almost every time you change your set and settings, so you cant be so sure that the colors of the visuals changed becuase the substance was altered (oxidized) .

If you do the reduction procedure compare the yield(before/after). If you have big loss in the conversion than it was mostly impurities.

Anyway, you can never be 100 % sure unless your perform some analytical test.

Impurities from where? the original batch was divided equally, and I had tried that and it was a totally different experience.
Does anyone know what happens if you attempt a zinc reduction on DMT? My intuition tells me it would simply result in no reaction, and pulling DMT again.

well, dmt can be different with every experience, incredibly different. otherwise people have reported success with zinc on this forum in at least two threads. in theory there is no reason why it wouldnt work, if the reaction is performed correctly.

Have in mind that aluminum is even stronger reducing agent than zinc.

As far as the coloration goes, it can be many things including impurities. I am not excluding the option that it can be oxide, its just less likely for me. I think you need to give the molecule really harsh conditions to fully oxidise.

I too have just found that my nice white fluffies have gone yellow after 3 months storage. So I re-x and got only 20% of the original amount in crystals.... Might be something in what you said !!!, but I now store it in an amber bottle in the fridge from good advice. I felt robbed....Laughing

Yeah that happened with mine too. It turned from pure white to a creamy yellow color. I also noticed small amounts of oily orange-ish impurities that seem to have separated themselves from the crystals to the sides of the container.

Something similar also happened in the extraction process during the first pull. After collecting the crystals and putting them in a small glass container they all turned into a gray gunk overnight. I did a re-x and noticed that some of the gunk was still present underneath the crystals. I carefully scraped off the crystals trying to leave most of the gunk behind and that seemed to do the trick. I then collected the gunk separately and used it to infuse some herbs. It was psychoactive although I can't say whether it was n-oxide or just some DMT-containing plant oils.
