I'll keep this simple,

If the powers that be have the right to control and restrict NATURAL plants, why don't we have a say in what harmful additives and chemicals can be found in our food, water etc etc?

If it is giving us ill health, surely we as tax paying citizens in these 'democratic societies' should have a say in what is found in our food?

I read a few cases of civilians having their frikken veggie patches taken out. So one can't even say something like 'you can choose what you eat' surely

If half the population actually knew what they were ingesting I'm sure they would agree

Unless of course we do have the right to demand healthy food, consider this thread null and void

Although I haven't heard a thing about it

FWIW,

I agree about the restricting plants part, however (assuming this is the US you're speaking of) one of the aspects of capitalism is choice/variety and you do have the choice of growing your own food, buying organic, farmers' markets, choice of restaurants, etc.

It is my personal opinion that there will be a sort of epicurean revolution, for lack of a better word. More and more people are becoming enlightened about the food we are putting in our bodies. Just remember every time you buy something at the grocery, you are "voting" (marketers are of course recording/analyzing purchases). I would like to hope in the next decade or two most food companies will have gone through a serious appraisal of their practices and ingredients.

If you're interested in this sort of thing a great movie I recommend is Food Inc (I believe it's on youtube); it's the one that opened my eyes.
