computer is about to die, was pouring through the search function and couldn't find a post on this. Has anyone found a good source of locally available Limonene in the USA? check autozone and a few other places for degreasers but can't be sure whats in em. Lots of love

I honestly dont see the point personally in using limonene when you can just use vegetable oils. The only difference is that you have to keep the bark/lime mix a bit drier or it takes longer for the veg oil to seperate. Does the same job though.

jamie has a good point. SWIM has not tried the vegie oil tek yet, but D-Limonene is expensive. It does smell nice though, and you can clean your house with it.

Check your local art supply store, I found some as a brush cleaner here. Cant recall the exact formula, it was over 90%, the rest was made up of "aliphatic hydrocarbons" on the label, should be swell to use.

You can actually extract pure limonene from orange peel. The only problem is you would need a distillation apparatus to do it. Just peel some oranges, a few hundred grams of peels will give you about 50mL of limonene. You cut the peels into small pieces and cover them with filtered or distilled water and boil the water. As the cool trap sends the vapors into the receiving flask, you should notice that two layers appear in the flask and the bottom one is almost pure limonene(>95%). Drying this with magnesium sulfate or epsom salts will give you exactly what you are buying when you purchase it. The glassware can be expensive though.

Sometimes it may be advantageous for one to pay cash, and not leave too much of a paper trail, or one may want to support local biz, or one may not have a credit card.

Wha? Not sure I get your point, but I'm not going to name stores by name- ummm local art supply stores should be enough info. And whats the point in buying a credit card if you want to avoid paper trails. IDK I sense hostility in your post, maybe I'm just sensitive, I dunno.
