I've scared people all my life. I even had several people write on my yearbook page that i scare them. Everyone has different standards for odd behaviour and it is not bad to be a little cautious because "non functional adults" (wtf is that, really) might be more than a little disturbed which can lead to very problematic behaviour.

A while ago i would have argued like house, then i had a psycho i was aquainte with threaten my family. He also bought a weapon...i just seperated as quickly as i could.

Follow your intuition and keep and open mind.

Sounds like that's already what you are doing.

Carry on.

Oh ya. Anyways what I originally clicked on the topic for, individuals that scare you.. Marilyn Manson now that guy is creepy imho.

Really, you find him scary? Have you seen his excellent interview from Bowling for Columbine? I personally think the guy is brilliant and have a lot of respect for the way he cultivated an image to present to the media/public. He is definitely on my list of people I would love to sit down and have a nice conversation with.

Interesting, i don't find Marilyn Manson creepy at all. Like dreamer pointed out, he is a very reasonable and intelligent guy and his showmanship is top notch. Don't care for his music though.

I tend to lean towards the side of giving people a fair chance, despite what they may look like or the "vibe" they may give me. But then again, I have a very strong sense of personal power and have no fear of death Big grin I suppose it could have something to do with the fact that people are constantly judging me by my appearance and saying they were terrified of me before they got to know me for who I really am. I may look foul, but I feel fair, if you get my meaning Pleased

Some of the best friends I've ever had were those "creepy" types...those dudes you imagine might live in their mom's basement. The truth is you can't know until you give someone a chance. Life is full of risks, if you play it safe all the time how can you really live? At least that's how I choose to look at it.

I trust my intuitions, but often our social and cultural conditioning overrides and makes us judge people for unfair reasons. If this man had looked more like yourself, or more "normal" to you, would you have had the same reaction? Would he still have given you that same "vibe"? Or if your coworker hadn't told you he also creeped them out?

Marilyn Manson is a very intelligent and fascinating person. He epitomizes that old adage "Don't judge a book by its cover".

There's another lead singer I just became aware of that fits the same description. He was obviously one of the early "manson" kids and now he's carrying on the work that Marilyn started in the 90's. His lyrics are surprisingly thoughtful and interesting. Of course there's some hate and anger in there, he is a metal musician after all Smile But this is what he looks like:

He has a lot to say about religion, society, and the way people judge and fear what they don't understand. He gives a lot of kids hope and the realization that they aren't alone. Some lyrics:

"I will defend that, we are the vanquished, and you will not make our decisions
I won't pretend that, I'm not a victim of a world that will not listen"

"All I want is to reach someone,
to say something that could change their life forever
To let them know they're not alone, you're not alone

To all the kids who's letters I receive
The broken hearted, the damaged just like me
I will be your voice to let the world know we stand as one"

"OPEN YOUR MIND BEFORE YOUR MOUTH" (I love that one)

I have to agree. People used to say the same sort of things about Zappa 40 or so years ago.

For the longest time I figured MM for just a shocker going for an outrageous image just to sell records, but after listening to some interviews I have to say he has a good head on his shoulders and a lot of insight into people, media and society, and he is well spoken and direct. We could use some politicians like that.
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

I've found many people like this in my life. Sometimes we meet another that we just don't gel with or they make us feel highly uncomfortable... like a guy in the bar last weekend who I knew wanted to start a fight with me for some reason :S couldn't explain it.. these thing's happen.

Not sure what else to say really, just hoping you're safe and nothing bad comes of it Sad he might genuinly be quite a nice dude just with a creepy outer shell..
One can drive himself to madness in the obsessing goal of reason, without the knowledge of love and laughter.

You've probably seen this, but if you haven't, there's one sick puppy...

I have seen it. Thanks for sharing though.
"Think more than you speak"
"How do you get rid of the pain of having pain in the first place? You get rid of expectations"
"You are everything that is. Open yourself to the love and understanding that is available."
"To see God, you have to have met the Devil."
"When you know how to listen, everyone becomes a guru."
" One time, I didn't do anything, and it was so empty... Almost as if I wasn't doing anything. Then I wrote about it. It was fulfilling."
