Just curious if A low dose of Valium .. before vapeing white DMT.. would calm or mellow the blast off somewhat.. or even mellow the entire experiance?
Anyone ever tryed this ..or would a [benzo] ruin the experiance compleatly?Neutral

Location: Africa I have used Valium to try and calm my nerves before taking off. It dulls the experience - not visually, but that sense of wonder and the alien headspace was gone.

Taking some time to breathe and meditate before lifting off goes a long way...

A dissociative drug like ketamine, MXE or nitrous oxide might help you. It will take away the anxiety but also boost the experience.

I would just say to breathe and meditate a bit, calm down, and then make the leap of faith. I was scared to do it my first time and then just made the plunge and oh boy I was glad I did! Nothing can prepare you fully for what you will experience, but don't worry, it is full of love. Smile Make sure to smile before you smoke it and as you are holding the smoke in, take 3 big its and smile, smile, SMILE!

Yea sorry Hostilis. But more isn't always better!

I would recommend, especially for entheogens, to meditate if you are weary or full of anxiety.

You wouldn't want to fog your mind before going into an experience.

I hope you find what helps.

maybe do some yoga + meditation while on lower doses of changa until that barrier of fear melts away. You could also try smoke it after the peak of a positive lsd or mushroom experience...or while on harmalas. For some this sort of thing can provide a much nicer and fearless mental platform to launch from

^ I asked a similar question a while ago, my thread was named "GABA-B agonists and dmt experience". Perhaps if you're in advanced stages of yoga/meditation it does help, but that doesn't work for everyone. Personally I've never had a bad, negative trip from DMT, however the sheer intensity of the experience everytime I've vaped probably primed my CNS to fear it. No matter how calm I feel throughout the day, or spend time in thoughtless mindfulness prior to it, I can't prevent my CNS from going crazy regardless of my mindset. If it acknowledges that there's a VG with changa in it and a torch-lighter in my hand then I get insane heartbeat, shaking hands and overall sense of panic, even though I'd like to proceed further.

I'm getting a shipment of gaba-b agonist myself really soon and would like to see if perhaps several experiences while under influence of it might reverse this reaction.

I don't understand the desire to take a drug that enhances ones perceptions and then counter it with a drug designed to dull one's perceptions. It's one of the reasons I never understood why some people want to drink alcohol when tripping.

Seems odd to me, like wanting to ride a roller coaster, but not wanting it to go fast downhill. Better to just choose another ride.

just be sober before blasting off , works good for me

generally i am stoned all day yet few hours before blasting off i quit smoking until i have blasted off , after coming back i smoke more cannabis to intensify the left over effects which are not much after coming back yet cannabis does help

also why is this thread posted in - first steps ... should'nt this be in the open disscusssion section

Not all anxiety relieving molecules dull the experience. Pheibut, for example, being a GABA-B specific agonist potentiates and deepens the experience while reducing the anxiety. I cant speak for benzos since those are both GABA-A and GABA-B.

John Smith:

Try to get some GHB powder. I never imagined taking G with DMT, but in a small dose, maybe it could help take all the anxiety away. I've only done GBL, which is way more potent, since it readily metabolizes in this form. GHB becomes GBL through some enzymatic steps. The pharmaceutical G, Xyrem, sounds cool, but it is an orphan drug...it costs big. These types of drugs are GABA B. Alcohol and benzos are GABA A. GHB is actually a great replacement drug for alcohol and benzo dependency since it targets GABA B.

This is interesting, and I will read up on it. I have had occasional anxiety issues, not over psychedelics, but life situations (don't we all?). Would GABA-B agonists like you mention reduce anxiety without intoxicating and similar effects, for job interviews, etc?

As for alcohol, it depends on the ratio and if you dose and then drink or if you are drunk and then dose. The latter case will end poorly. I have never done it this way, but have never heard of it going well. However, LSA in particular is boosted a lot by alcohol. It is pretty much all you feel plus additional uninhibition from the booze. You really don't feel drunk at all though.

As for valuim, why not go with kava? Maybe it might dull it, but generally it doesn't make my head feel cloudy like synthetic benzos do. Just a thought. Another option might be passion flower tea/extract. Its a nerve tonic and a weak MAOI. It might just be what the occasion calls for.

The last time I blasted off, I chanted "Om Mani Padme Hum" until my voice gave out and then smoked it while still in the half lotus position and held the posture for the experience. Normally the initial onset causes me a little anxiety, this was gone. The entire character of the experience was more benevolent.

valium is too hypnotic imo. If i was to take a benzo for calming my anxieties for a dmt trip i would prefer pyrazolam.

Smoking a bit of passionflower or drinking some passionflower tea seems to calm me down before a trip.

If you need Valium or any other drug of similar activity to deal with the experience, maybe DMT isn't for you..?

Beforehand, I like my synapses nice and clean for optimum blastoff results.

Afterwards however... I'm a big fan of copious amounts of ganja. Thumbs up

I had a trip that was pure anxiety after taking valium. I thought for sure it would help with my pre-flight jitters. Nope. Then the trip was centered round anxiety. It was a moderate dose, but it was still one of those: "I swear I'll never do drugs ever again if this will just end." kind of trips.
I just smoke DMT when I'm ready, and not nervous.
It's been two years, and I'm starting to hear the call.
