I'm with Tony, and I would guess that this thread is not the sole reason for his leaving. Also, I would appreciate it if someone with the power to do so would rename this thread so that its title no longer gives the impression that open discussion and alternate viewpoints are welcome here. How about "Youtube DMT Videos To Flag Down"?

Thanks in advance.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

I haven't read all the posts I got the idea to check it out and got distracted. Most of the vids of links in the early posts of this thread were removed. BUT apparently they now can post this stuff if they have an age appropriate sign in.

I dunno what you guys think but this bothers me. The comments on this video are almost all incorrect. I dont know if we should flag all the comments that are ridiculous or what but theres a lot of bad info that these guys are spreading. One comment describing how to extract on page 2 of comments...

Quote:
The process is pretty basic. Just need the proper barks which can be ordered. Naphtha and a mason jar ect. Ect It isnt illegal until its been extracted. Done right you will get around 1/100 dmt to bark ratio. Not a party drug. L is fun but this a life changing experience.spiritual. dmt releases naturally twice in a humans life in very large doses... birth and death. So realize this is not just a "drug". Respect it

Theres a lot of comments though, so I almost feel like we should msg the uploader to remove the comments or something, i dunno what do you guys think? Its a stupid song too

^Nothing particularly wrong with that. Just a tune about DMT. And its not the uploaders fault for people's lack of knowledge. Many of them probably came straight from a Joe Rogan video, so you can't blame 'em Pleased

This guy, how ever, Adam Kokesh - who is some sort of libertarian activist, not only advocates smoking DMT, but also the purchase via silk road, and also films himself smoking it (inefficiently Confused ) - so flag away!

The sheer idiocy of some of these videos astounds me. Solar Jetman, I would say that is definitely worth a flag. Seems like a bit of a losing battle here though.

Like most of you I do have a problem with seeing the irresponsible use of DMT in videos, such as kids posting "hey look at me get fucked up woohoo!" kinds of vids (that kind of publicity is what got salvia banned in many states). Though that being said DMT is already illegal. And the kids posting are typically teens and teens are usually stupid. There are all sorts of vids with dumb kids irresponsibly doing something. DMT is just one of those things.

I don't really have much of a problem with those vids getting flagged. Though what I would typically do is send a personal message to explain why the video should be taken down. Because at least you can communicate with that person, rather than just flagging it. And I do have a problem with most YouTube recipe guides as I do feel the extraction of DMT should be well researched and not just cobbled together from a YouTube vid, a poor understanding can be dangerous. Though that being said this is the Internet and finding a recipe for DMT is not hard at all. So I don't think responsible guides should be flagged.

Gratuitious flagging campaigns do bother me. As I do think there are good videos out there. I don't think a witch hunt to rid YouTube of DMT videos is called for. There are some good videos out there that are both responsible and informative, there are trip reports with a "what you can expect" attitude that can help inform the uninitiated. Not all YouTube videos on DMT are bad, even some of those actively smoking are good that contain comprehensive trip reports. Personally I think flagging all pro-DMT videos (as some on here are advocating) is quite childish especially coming from a pro-DMT community.

I have read many posts here that seem quite snobbish and elitist when it comes to DMT. Like DMT is the holy grail of psychedelics and to a degree I quite understand that ideology, I feel about the same way when it comes to how special DMT is. What I don't feel however is that DMT discussion needs to be hidden or monopolized by this particular website.

First off all DMT is already illegal. The DEA already knows about it and I'm sure they know about this website. The cat is out of the bag and I don't think it's going to get caught again. Many people seem to be afraid of DMT going "mainstream" but I hate to break the news, it's already there and that's a good thing. Don't we want this community to grow. Whether people inform themselves about DMT from this website or YouTube doesn't matter. This issue is making sure a responsible message gets across and we should facilitate safe use of this drug. We also shouldn't engage in cowardly flagging campaigns to hide something that can't be hidden, nor should it be. DMT is a gift to this world. We need to help people understand it, in a kind way. Infringing on someone's freedom of expression (ie flagging a YouTube vid) is not that. It's cowardly.

My issue with this is the snobbery and pretentiousness coming from this great community. It's an immature childish reaction, not productive in the least. DMT is a gift and those experienced are facilitators to help those who want to explore this curious molecule. To try to hid it is an act of cowardice, the reason people want to hide it is because the want to "the guy" who knows about it. The cool kid. The connection. Its an ego trip. A control freak mentality. The metaphor I would use is someone who loves an underground band who desperately doesn't want them to go mainstream. Why? If the band is so awesome why don't you want people to hear? - Peace

I don't think you're getting the actual point at all.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I always had a very clear feeling about why there is an encouragement to flag certain videos. It's nothing to do with exclusivity. It's to do with promoting good information and responsible use. I doubt any level-headed user in this community would ever flag a video giving proper and responsible information about psychedelic use.

And when a video is flagged, it's not about "keeping DMT from going mainstream". It's about keeping people safe and improving the signal to noise ratio. I personally have nothing against use of DMT spreading, AS LONG AS it is mature, informed and responsible. I want people to learn, to be safe and not to do stupid things.

Whether they achieve this in the Nexus or anywhere else, I don't care.

Vodsel, I agree with what you say trust me. I just wanted to speak loud and clear to that contingent of people on this website that I do not agree with. I've read this website long enough to encounter a snobbish element of the DMT community. And yes there are some who want DMT to be a secret and I have read posts by several of them on this particular forum. I just wanted to call them out. That's all. Just wanted to post a diatribe to give those people some pause. In general I do not much care for flagging campaigns and I will not participate. I'm a free speech kind of guy, even if that speech is stupid and irresponsible. Either way I just want a different kind of voice to be heard. This is a forum after all, an exchange of ideas not an excercise in herd mentality. Either way as long as people promote safe responsible use of DMT I have no problem. And if you think a flagging campaign is whats needed, Godspeed. I hope you understand.

I was never under the impression that there was a blanket campaign going o to flag all DMT videos, just particular ones.

I understand wanting to steer away from creating an impression of elitism or exclusivity. But many of us feel compelled to do our part to damp down any negative publicity. This is a fine line, and I agree that some members here come across as overly extreme. But their hearts are in the right place.

If we wanted to keep DMT secret then why are we working so hard on this forum to document every step of the DMT process? We have (off the top of my head):

*People cataloguing and analyzing new plants;
*People creating and improving extraction teks;
*People going to festivals to promote education;
*People testing substances at festivals to promote harm reduction;
*Artists creating psychedelic art to infiltrate the mainstream;
*And some not-yet-public activities...

Doesn't sound like a group of people trying to keep a secret... sounds like caring individuals who are trying to promote safe and responsible use with the hopes of avoiding another Leary-esque type fiasco.

All and all, I think you are way off-base here.

Alpha and Guyomech and to others reading, my apoplogies for not choosing my words more carefully. I was already scorned by Vodsel for my post and I do understand why. It was quite aggressive. I did not mean to offend. I should have read over it more carefully and been more articulate about my point rather than make a baseless rant. Which is what I did. And yes "secret" was not the best choice of words. But there was more to my post and my message than just that though I suppose it was lost in the ranting nature of my post. I posted with too much haste and for that I am sorry.

I love what this website is trying to do, with it's spreading of responisble use of these psycheldelics, that is why I am happy to be a member here. I will not delete my previous post, even though I will admit it was a mistake. I try my best not to hide from my mistakes but to learn from them. So it will be there for everyone's veiwing pleasure.

That being said there is an element of people on this website that do want to keep DMT "under the table" so to speak and not make it a household name. In other worsds they don't want the average person to know what DMT is. Such as LSD is a household name, but DMT is not, though it is getting there. I think my underground music lover analogy trying to prevent it from going mainstream is apt, however this might not have been the particular place to discuss that issue. I have read a few that seem to indicate they want to flag all DMT vids (a reaction seemingly based on what happened with salvia), though they seem to be the minority.

Trying to prevent a LEary-eque fiasco is the right thing to do.

All in all I wish I have chosen my words more carefully. I pride myself on being articulate and I fucked up, plain and simple. Essentially I do not agree with flagging campagins but I do understand why you are doing it. That being said most of the videos I have seen that people are flagging I feel are quite harmless, in my opinion. At least the few I have seen, a vast majority of the others have already been taken down so I don't know what was on them.

Either way this post is merely an apology. I will leave you to your work.

Differences of opinion are common enough around here. It's really about tone, and you already recognized that so I won't wave it around. Your humble apology is appreciated.

One of the laws of communication: if you want others to listen, particularly when your viewpoint is different from theirs, you need to make it attractive to listen. Easier said than done, of course, but you are clearly a smart enough person to do this. Believe me, I've had my share of rants. But they are mostly wasted words, whether I had a valid point or not.
