Okey so I have a friend that have tried DMT when he was not on any medication. Now he wants to try again and he has both DMT and Changa (10x caapi) available. I saw in the thread which meds to avoid on MAOI and Bupropion is listed there.

So, the question is, can my friend smoke DMT without MAOi if medicated with Voxra? He had some changa but told him not to smoke it before I have made som research. However, he really wants to go on a journey again so hope you will give me some insights on if it is ok to smoke DMT crystals.

Thanks

Why is your friend taking bupropion?

I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Because of his bipolar disorder that he got diagnosed with a couple of years ago.

Specifically, depression is the reason why he got these meds. Anyone have any knowledge about using DMT while on them?

Probably best to abstain from DMT and other psychedelics while on depression medications of any sort. My 2 cents.

I'm not advocating anything here, just giving you the straight facts to the best of my knowledge:

1.) He should avoid MAOIs / RIMAs while taking bupropion, so as you told him, avoid strong Caapi, etc.
2.) There shouldn't be any adverse reaction between pure spice and the bupropion. If he is taking a high enough dose however the spice could be "blocked" and he wont get much effect from it. I've only seen this is a couple of people taking higher than average theraputic doses.

That being said, I agree with the others. Probably not the best move for someone with Bipolar Disorder.

Thank you for you inputs everyone. I recommended the friend of mine not to smoke only spice either. However, I have to inform that he was not on this medication when he first tried DMT and he also tried LSD a little bit later (when not on the medication) and both times everything went well. Note that he got diagnosed with bipolar disorder a couple of years before trying these substances. I was sceptic to let him try the substances in the first place but was not going to hinder him from doing so if he really wanted to. I gave my and your advice and because of his medication he was wise to decide to wait this time on blasting of again until sometime in the future when he is not on the meds.

As said before, only the MAOI and the meds are not good to take together.

I like to share my view on bupropion, i was on it for depression and since it did not had side effects of other SSRI/SNRI's i've tried before, i kept taking it for about 6 Months. Then i noticed the effect decreasing and stopped taking them. Also different to SN/SSRI's i had no problem stopping the doses. I concluded that the drug had long lost its first, uplifting effect (for whom i had obviously taken it). I personally prefer Adderall or if not in the US (like me): good black market alternatives. It gets my motivation up and my worries down, and i can dose how i need it or stop if i don't.

Still, before having a session with MAOI involved, stay 'clean' for two weeks prior minimum.
hope to help

Missed the part about the bipolar disorder...

Look I had a bipolar person who had been hospitalized for mania that wanted to take mushrooms. I thought, "hey a low dose couldn't be a big deal". I ended up not giving them too them. I'm glad I didn't. The responsibility of sending this person to a mental hospital for weeks, the legal rap that can follow that, as well as just damaging the person further, out weighs the possible good outcomes.

You see bipolar people have been taking psychedelics and some find benefits in it. However, these are mostly acute bipolars. There are two main groups bipolar people are categorized in too, referred to as '1' and '2'. The people who do dose are usually bipolar 2, and they usually take them during depressive stages so as to have a cushion for becoming manic. I can NEVER recommend dosing a bipolar person.

As a person who has a schizophreniform disorder who has taken psychedelics while psychotic, it's not really good. In general though, it wasn't that bad. Yea the whole "spice heals this" or "DMT fixes everything" may seem to be true but there are many cases where taking ANY psychedelic is not advised, and where... people aren't magically healed from years of mental illness even after many uses of psychedelics in good environments, right intentions, the whole deal. Myself and a whole slew of people I talk to on mental health boards as well. It's actually pretty cool how many people used to and do still trip on mental health forums, at least in that I fit right in.

Mania is in general more dangerous for the experiencer and those around them then psychosis is(mania can be coupled with psychosis as well). Truly manic persons can rapidly form delusions, feel invincible, be seriously agressive. Smash cars, hurt people, without any forethought nor afterthought. It can even feel like a religious experience to do such according to more than one person I've met... Essentially do things they'd never do while base-line, become hyper-sexual(sleep with tons of strangers, cheat on spouses), run straight into ridiculous amounts of debt(spend lots of cash they don't have). I've heard about it happening on mental health forums I visit, as well as on here... Psychedelics are known to induce mania in bipolars and can further exacerbate the illness is the bottom line.

You know how sometimes you get that "I'm the chosen one" on psychedelics? Manic persons often live that for days on end without any substance fueling it. Be careful when manic people ask you for things like drugs, it can often be a reckless abandon. I've read people say that each manic episode takes something from you, you can never get back. I slept with this person who wanted the mushrooms, before I knew they were bipolar and honestly that has left me feeling guilty enough. Not being able to recognize that she was hypersexual, so I educated myself a bit about the disorder.

In short, wait until the guy stabilizes and can get off of the pharmacueticals. They could be on more than bupropion, he could also be taking an antipsychotic(a lot of bipolars and schizoeffectives are). Then if he feels like risking it, make sure it's his decision for both of your sakes.

I'm not saying that this person will guaranteed lose their way, but it's a possibility that must be addressed when weighing this decision.

DMT with bupropion doesnt present a major hazard pharmacologically speaking; MAOIs do however need to be avoided.

Bipolar disorder is a major psychiatric condition and the use of strong hallucinogens such as DMT in those who have the condition is very unwise due to the risk of significantly upsetting the mental state which may have been stabilised with various medications. Not a wise endeavour, IMO.

Another member mentions adderal as a 'better' treatment for a depressed mood but again there are real hazards in using amphetamine-like compounds in bipolar disorder. Also not recommended IMO.

i've edited my first post since it could have been misguiding. All i wanted to state are my experiences with bupropion and other xxRI's, wich were fairly negative, i did not had the person with bipo disorder in mind. Sorry for that.

to all experienced users (i'm not):
is not the oral dmt experience smoother and easier to handle than smoked freebase and therefore safer to use for 'vulnerable users'? Its key for the user himself to realize if he is such.

After three attempts of smoked freebase i dont feel the need to explore that administration method farther, it was too fast and irritating. i consider myself a vulnerable person too.

So take good care about yourself, be safe, have fun and find what aids you best in fighting all those horrible little fears. Everyone's way out is different.
And find "somebody to love" *sigh* Rolling eyes

It maybe smoother on the come up, for most. The oral DMT experience can last several hours. The vapourized experience lasts a couple of minutes and its gone. Imagine a vulnerable user, stuck in a situation where te experience turns bad and that user still has several hours of hyperspace ahead.

Its not for everyone.
